  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Action Products Raptor Offer: Only Good Until 3/22

Hi Justin

You guys have been great all through - and I have no doubt that'll continue to aftersales too.

Thanks for the update and modification on the coupon, that'll help for config checks :)

I'll drop you a quick PM later (in the middle of a CGI renderfarm meltdown at the moment... so, once I recover, I'll send a quick mail!).

Thanks.

The hard case looks nice but 28 lbs. is pretty heavy.
How does the Petrol tripod case hold things...are
there some kind of dividers that can hold the sled
and stage separately and securely ?
But the petrol can NOT also hold the vest...correct..?

Also regarding the steel weight set..? how many plates
and how much weight does it add in total..?

I choose the hard case because its nice to get all that kit into one good case, I am so tired of having 3 cases just for my camera because of all accessories, can you imagine dragging around all your camera gear plus several bags and cases for the steady?

Seems practical to get it as compact as possible.

Hi Roy,

Heard yesterday that shipping Monday next.. In order of full payment received.

Thank you very much

Yes! Can´t pick up mine next week, because I´m abroad, but it would be ready.
This Raptor, and especially this arm, is state of the art!

Yeah, I am so very excited

I must say Justin, even so not part of this group buy... I am very impressed by the level and way of info given in this thread, besides the product, as we all know it's going to be nothing short of great!

Thank you all so much for your kind words!!

We are getting very close now and are very excited to hear feedback from everyone on this rig!! As mentioned before, ActionProducts will be shipping everyones rig in order of who paid first. A large amount of you have already paid and thank you, but there are still some of you that have not. Please go ahead and pay now so there is not a delay on shipping you your brand new ActionCam!! :emote_happyhappy:

So far the quickest and easiest way for everyone has been to just call me personally to do this. I will take as much time as you need to answer every single question you have over the phone, before and during check out.
  • My direct line is (704)665-1945 ext. 101.
I look forward to hearing from you!!

Was so looking forward to this update.

I shot a music video today and the team I was working for had some Chinese/Indian knock off steadi with them for me to use and it went pretty well till half way through the day when one of the springs mounts snapped... Going to be so good to have a real solid reliable rig!

Justin for those of us who have paid, when will the units start shipping out?

I have to say that the communication with Justin has been outstanding. I have been on the phone with him a few times now to configure a rig that suits my needs perfectly. I can't wait until this thing lands.

Justin - PM'd you back on the 17th. Can you check to see if you got it?

Cheers.

Hello Andy,

So sorry we have not gotten back to you on this yet. Daryl saw that message and wanted to get back to you personally on it. Then I guess things got crazy busy for him trying to wrap up this group buy. I have already notified him of this again. He should be getting back to you with some feedback in the next 24 hours.

Sorry again for this delay. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

No problem at all! As I've said previously, you guys have been outstanding in terms of service/help/comms.

I was just worried it got lost in cyberland... Daryl's mailed me back. I'm just dropping him a quick reply in a moment.

I know you're all very busy :)

But, exciting times for the Raptor - I think you guys might just have created a monster (well, Dino-monster!). LOL

... for everyone who was wondering: First picture of the hybrid plate. As you can see on the picture it has a 1/4" screw slide so you can actually flip the plate and use it as a camera plate. In normal position it functions as a Arri adapter plate. The length is 27cm (10.6").

Called Justin to finalize payment on my order and ask a few questions (I'm a stabilizer newbie) and he was awesome! Thanks Justin, can't wait to play with with this thing. My clients are just as excited as me about getting this wicked rig! Next step, schedule a full weekend of one-on-one with an experienced local DP who can show me the ropes before I unleash steady awesome to these clients.

That looks great...is it avail to ship with our Raptors?

I picked up mine yesterday. It´s flat out fantastic! The arm is as smooth like a G-50X or G-70X arm, tool less adjustment on the fly. Built to last forever. I took the 28lbs version with the pro gimbal mount. A simple setup with a Scarlet or Epic, side handle , SSD and red mote and a light lens (around 1kg) is nearly a bit too light for it. The vest is as comfortable like the new Exovest from Tiffen, but the design is more in direction Klaasen vest. Very unique design, no copy at all. Very well made. It takes a while to fit it right on the body, but then it´s a pleasure to wear it. The sled is top notch too. Very simple to adjust and easy to balance. I use it with the 5" touch LCD to start. I needed to add some weight on the LCD side for a good dynamic balance. Maybe I can post some photos tomorrow.

Hi Marc,

Great to read your report! So you have only the light springs, then? What is your "camera weight estimate, please"There is a delay until July10, for the foam insert, regarding the hard case orders. Daryl will apparently ship separately, if desired, but seems as though, at this point, prudent to wait for the insert and ship altogether, if out of EU, at least. YMMV.

Thank you very much

Fury

Hi Nick, my camera weight is very little. Scarlet, Sidehandle (without Redvolt), SSD, Redmote, currently Canon 16-35mm with ND filter and Sunhood is 4,1 kg. The total weight of the outfitted sled is 9,7 kg. With swap pack, 190 wh V-mount battery, 5 " Red touch LCD, cables and some extra weight. I think the 28lbs springs are easily enough for a outfitted Scarlet with FF and mattebox and lens like angenieux 15-40mm, because my setup is still a bit too light for my taste.
Cheers
Marc
