  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

9" LCD shipping today....

Now - Im confused - Shall I get the evf and 5" touch - or just the 9". With the battle tested evf they sum up to about the same price.

Choices - choices !

For me it's a no brainer, i'd much rather have the 9" than the EVF. Personally I was glad to leave the "eye piece" behind when I switched from shooting film. I'm pretty excited for the 9", mine shipped on Monday.

Not so fast there guys...

The EVF is an entirely different ANIMAL... It is a MUST have, in fact I have now come across to more then half dozen times were I could have not shot if it was not for the EVF, as outdoor conditions were extremely prohibitive to shoot looking at the LCD.

Also several of the Operators I have ran in to, will not operate the camera unless they are looking thru the EVF.

The only reason I'm selling my like new 5" Touch LCD Kit, is because I absolutely fallen in Love with the Screen Real Estate offered by the 9", and since my vision is not as great as it used to be, the bigger the better, of course 9" being the biggest I'm willing to go on a camera mounted screen, but I will also always have the EVF mounted on at the same time.

I strongly advise to always have BOTH... ;)

Additionally, not only I have upgraded to the NEW OLED EVF, and extremely happy about it, but if RED was ot come out with a Super High Rez EVF I would upgrade to that in a NANO second... ;)

That is how important is the EVF for me.

Yes, the (OLED) EVF is definitely a must have. I only ever use the LCD as an operator when I'm holding the camera in a position where I can't use the EVF.
You can live without the LCD as a controlling device though, as you can control everything using the Side Handle or REDMOTE.

Nevertheless, my 9" LCD will ship soon, because when shooting for the large screen, the angle of view needs to be large enough in order to judge the framing properly. And the angle of view of the Bomb EVF is not one of its fortes, unfortunately.

Ketch, I own the EVF but I don't use it much, what am I missing? I actually like using reading glasses and the LCD, if it's bright I add a hoodman. I don't know, maybe I'm alone, but i just prefer the screen. the 9" will be amazing.
