Not sure if you guys have seen this photo:

I could be wrong, but that second lens...the black one...looks a lot like this:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...spherical.html

The Hasselblad 35-90 f4-5.6 AUTOFOCUS zoom.

Hasselblad = MEDIUM FORMAT = 65mm

65mm?????!!!

Not sure if this is a "clue", but perhaps this is a signal there's one more Weapon on the horizon?? A 65mm one????!!!!

Can you imagine????

If that is the case, the Weapon lineup would end up looking like this:

1) WEAPON s35 (6K Dragon Sensor) - CONFIRMED
2) WEAPON
VISTAVISION (8K?) - CONFIRMED
3) WEAPON
65mm (12K?) - HINTED??

Does the Alexa 65 have some well "armed" competition on it's hands?

WOW - is this going to be the greatest NAB ever?

Can you imagine if RED unveils a 65mm Weapon? Heads will explode!!!!!!!!!

Again...I'm reading tea leaves here...but still....

I don't know...now I'm second guessing myself...

I just noticed on FB Jarred said the Vintage Hawk 45-90 destroyed the "lens that never was", so maybe they were testing them both on Vista Vision....

Still..that lens does look a lot like a Hassy....just sayin'....

Bah! You must be thinking that Red will leave Arri's 65 unchallenged then? Is that possible?

Do you have Photoshop CC? You should measure that Vista mount in there.

I own the Hasselblad H system, and I can tell you that the black lens he is holding is absolutely not a Hasseblad H lens of any kind. You can see yourself that the rubber bands on all H lenses are a gray color, and the pattern on the bands is different, they're not ribbed like that. The shape of the lens body also does not match any H lens.

No DPs I talk to seem as excited about this as I am...I want to film in a larger format simply to set my work apart from s35 content.. The prestige that came with shooting 65 is huge, at least in my eyes. I have been watching all the 65 films lately just to check it out and try to increase my film history knowledge base, its one thing to watch this stuff years ago, but different to me now at this stage in my life. This one scene in The Master had such insane bokeh man, like nothing I had ever seen before it was so out of focus! I think its really interesting to spread this mainstream, for both an artistic stand point and also a financial one. A DP I look up to hates Reds though and is so pissed off that Vista or 65 might go mainstream and then goes to the hardly any glass argument, but I find a certain historic quality to these larger formats that peaks my interest personally. Even if I have to shoot on Leica Rs or Hassleblads, is it really that bad other then pulling focus? There are 65mm Lomos out there, there are options, not a lot but enough for me. I mean s35 quality glass is expensive man(250k+), I was looking to Kowas or cooke mini panchros or lomo or bs options anyway is the reality (bs compared to masters and high end stuff, i actually like the kowas, would totally settle on slow cooke glass, and don't mind the square front or round front lomos either, they are all very cool to me, personally, maybe not market share wise with the general population would be my guess?)

The strange part with this thing is with so many sizes of sensors in the red line up and the market share is really kind of a guessing game I think. Do you think your 65 would rent more or less than a s35 or what about a Vista? It certainly makes me wonder if my obsession with bigger is better would be shared by the general market place. Was the lack of 65 or Vista content due to expense of the film stock and associated costs dealing with 65? Or was it just not as sought after in the marketplace? I wonder if digital, affordable 65/Vista would sell like hot cakes vs Arris business model with the 65? So many financial undertones to this...

I like my Dragon, but my Scarlet to Epic upgrade was really magic to me, or even just buying my Scarlet. I feel the same sense of magic right now in that rarity of what I'll one day own. I might not be able to make Reds one week deposit window on Vista or 65...but I will get a 65 even if I have to sell my two week old Arri, screw it right lol??? 65 red>arri uprezzing camera any day of the week brah...

Even if it was rehoused? Cuz otherwise its quite similar, and certainly the SIZE of a medium format zoom. No full frame zoom is that fat around. So either its a beta of a massive anamorphic Vista Vision zoom or its a medium format zoom. Cant think what else matches that shape...

Then again...I could be wrong...but then why else would Phil find it so "interesting?" Obviously, theres something significant about this zoom (and Im guessing more than just its prototype status).

Way back in the day there was whispers of Red electronic and anamorphic lenses. This could have been what never was. Hotwired. Housing looks a lot like the Pro Primes.

My thoughts exactly. I started to ask if you guys were referencing an older version of the Hassey lens because I don't see the resemblance.

Come on Phil… we need your expertise on this one. We know you can't say too much without saying too much.

Think of that hassy inside another housing; however, it may very well be the lens that never was (old prototype)

I think it's pretty clear. "The lens that never was" clearly referencing a RED lens.

It apparently went up against the other lens which was an anamorphic.

RED anamorphic lens that was shelved.

Inside RSH within Jarred's bat cave there is a museum of wonderments that never were. One offs, prototypes, etc.. Directions explored, yet not necessarily fully traveled.

It's cooler than Disneyland in there for a guy like me :)
