I don't expect RAVEN to have ProRes with internal downscaling included. REDCODE RAW and downscaling isn't going to happen too. Most of our work is observation documentary work so will Raven be able to shoot good quality 1080p? We have no requirement for 4K yet for our broadcast clients and would prefer to be able to shoot for longer run times in full HD.
We don't know about the supported resolutions, but it's unlikely that RAVEN shoots solely 4k. So, like with any other RED, RAVEN will probably shoot lower resolutions too. Just keep in mind, FullHD will be cropped = smaller used sensor size (same as with current DRAGON cameras).
However, i would suggest to shoot 4k/3k for fine HD-delivery (and some room for stabilization and reframing). Just dial-in some higher compression to get the runtime. I would only dial in cropped resolutions if i need the fps or lower compression, otherwise always shoot max resolution.
Shooting RED at 2k for FullHD-delivery isn't giving you the very best results - but it works when needed.
+1 on that.I'm also hoping that Raven uses less power than Epic so we can get much longer run times without having to for heavier batteries. Small is beautiful in the doc world!!!
