  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I have a hard time believing Red would ever allow their cameras to shoot in ProRes but not RAW. I think 4K and RAW is the core belief of what the company is built on. I feel like that is why they never released a Scarlet 3K, they decided to make 4K and RAW the absolute STANDARD.

I meant, raw for lower framerates, and prores to be able to reach 120fps. That would be great.

People should not stop considering the scarlet dragon though. My scarlet MX was cleaner than the scarlet dragon @4k, and the cropped factor inferior. But I would love a Raven as a 2d cam.

Yes you are right with the price for the pack.
I hope that RED puts some collections for Raven. Where the final price will be a few dollars less than to buy these things alone. :-)

So RED will upgrade the SCARLET? Currently the SCARLET can only shoot 2K in 120fps.
 
4k4all, 3k for 3k... Raven looks to me like the camera that the original Scarlet prototype wanted to be, only not shackled to an impossible price point and more capable than the original would have been. Wireless lens control has been the missing piece for still photo lenses. You might say that piece was never missing, there are and were existing wireless systems and adaptor gears etc. but those were not practical purchases for this market segment and did not overcome all of the mechanical issues.

The Optitron2 is going to fill this package out nicely and a group buy is going to go live in the marketplace today or tomorrow. Keep an eye out and wallet ready.

It seems Red has realized an old goal with Raven.

Thanks God I didn't pull the trigger on the C300 MK2... The least I can say is that all those hints from Jarred since IBC made me dream about a R3D as a C-Cam and it looks like it's going to be the case!
