  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

3 weeks...

How do you spot a visionary?
- They spend no time in the past;
- Failures are merely school fees;
- They devote themselves entirely;
- They run where others fear to tread; and
- When the time comes, no one can believe they missed it.

November 3rd will likely be the single most important announcement in RED's history. Don't miss it... even if you never intend on buying a camera.

Okay, now this Just confirms. Jim is as giddy as a schoolboy and is dying to tell us. Bet there's a few people holding him back right now.

I can now see this is going to more than just Scarlet...

:-)

Ps - hope the EPIC-X stages are speeding up to stage 4 by year end ;-)

This is a great piece of advice. Shows the leadership is ethical, responsible and mature and not willing to sell equipment at any cost. I would rate such a company over others. Equipment keeps on changing, it is better to buy into the philosophy of the company.

At the moment, I don't film 200-300 days a year to justify the Epic. Will be filming for a project with adequate RoI about six months later. Will consider what ever camera would have been launched at that time. So I hope the cameras and other equipment from RED will be available and not in back order.

I am eagerly tracking Nov 3rd announcements of RED as well as Canon as that day is likely to be a landmark day in the history.

Never invest in anything unless you can make it pay a return on your investment... unless you have money to burn.

Invest only in a system that grows over time. Everything changes. Make sure your system does too...

Both a terrifying and confidence inducing comment. Judging by the saturation potential of the projector a new camera that taps into a new market Red's future looks to be very exciting.

Intriguing to say the least.

There are no committees or focus groups for us. We don't know what a roadmap looks like anymore. Good luck keeping up with us. We can hardly keep up with ourselves...

Sometimes it seems like Red is a movement more than a company. Exciting idea that those in the leadership aren't sure exactly how things might develop and how far things can be pushed and are kind of running alongside the development. Though I'm sure people are now dreaming big in a focused way at RED. I never heard any company let alone a camera company sound like this.

Do you think it sounds crazy to people outside of reduser that I look forward to spending thousands of dollars on a camera I've been dreaming about for years, even though I'm not exactly sure what it is yet? I don't care! November 3, 2011 couldn't come soon enough!!! 2 years ago, I invested in a powerful Mac Pro work station and began learning the workflow and filming strictly on Red so I would be ready for this day. Best decision ever!

I just hope the insane amount of orders waiting to happen doesn't cause me to have to wait a year for my camera to arrive...although it would be well worth it! :)

I hear yah. I've been telling friends about how I'm going to buy this camera that is similar in quality to the camera used to make loads of blockbuster movies and I get the same slightly unbelieving pitying look....even from my wife ;)

You too Huh?

My wife just tells me other nonsense like "You know your having a baby in 3 months, aren't you just as excited about that?" I'm like "Of course! I'm trying to make sure he gets shot on nothing less than a RED!

My bet is that after our November 3rd announcement... we will never, ever, be out of back-order. Ever. Really. Never... ever.

Jim

This is all unfathomable really as some of us are just getting our X (stoked) and while waiting on parts, all this new stuff is geting announced and set up and and an and and this EPIC is something you guys have enjoyed since jan uary 2011
and old news... crazy.

"never ever, never get out of back order.. ever?" Please say it aint so! :) Especially regarding the laser projector... and Red Ray...cameras are great and all, but those are the 2 products that I have been waiting most eagerly for...

Thats the only thing that annoys me... BACK ORDERS.... :(

You have your camera... why are you annoyed?

It sounds like you are in high spirits again, Mr. Jannard. I'm glad of that. It also sounds like Scarlet (and whatever else is announced) will be so good that you will sell all you can make and then some. I've been squirreling my filthy lucre away for years in anticipation of the day I could finally buy a RED camera. Whatever else happens, you've made that anticipation a hell of a lot of fun. Swing for the fences!

RED is being driven "off-road" thats why you guys dont need a roadmap.
