  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

1st Scarlet....

I don't believe so, we have the latest copy of CS5.5, and we had to manually install the Importer

I looked at the blow ups, and I still don't get the point. First of all, the blow up does not even look like it was taken from the full frame provided. The hand positions look a little off, but maybe I am just seeing things. The bigger issue is that one picture looks like it was taken in low light with the lens probably wide open while the other was taken in day light with the lens probably stopped down. The blow up of the night shot seems to be of the out of focus part of the picture. I have no doubt that the Scarlet will outperform the FS100, but the question is by how much, and this comparison just does not seem valid. Even though I can't afford a Scarlet now, that doesn't mean I won't be able to in the future, and I would like to see some real world tests that show what the two cameras can do given the same lighting, lens etc. I am confident that as more Scarlets roll out, we will see a more comprehensive test in the near future.
 
What lens on that shot, and where were you standing (Centennial Park on Coronado)?

Just to let you guys know there are more scarlets out in the wild.

My friends just arrived via Fedex.

Ti PL mount. serial number is below 00030.

I'll let him post here when he is ready ;)

I think it will be available to rent starting today at DFS in LA. 818.771.0019 is their number over there.

Great! Was he at Red Studios for the launch?
 
Yeah - he and I were standing next to each other at the Studios for Launch. I couldn't believe I managed to make it there after a shoot - it was like luck was on my side that day.

I just landed in Taipei and about to jump on the plane for a few more hours.
I have some cityscape, timelapse, san diego bay water boats Scarlet X footage to share as soon as i get it processed.

To all fellow scarlet fans, I will be preparing a 1st impressions full on blog article answering many of the questions you may have.

Can you include shooting 60fps, 48fps and a shot at 120fps for kicks, so we can see how well it holds up?

It would be great to get some of those in RAW R3D motion files too if you up for it. It really helps to see the RAW play out for quality reference instead of compressed web video. Thanks again for the help!

Hey guys so I just finished unboxing my SCARLET-X which just came in today and will be leaving for a 3 week feature on monday! Here are some photos. Ive already been playing with the canon mount on it and its rock solid! Say Hello to number 26!

The camera is up at digital film studios in sun valley (we have 6 epics now and a scarlet x btw) so keep tuning in for some new awesome projects on the horizon.
 
This thing is LIGHT and it ROCKS!

Also - it will PLAYBACK 5k 23.98fps footage - so if you are in a jam and need to use a second body for playback in a remote field location or something - it seems to allow you to do that for now!
