  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

1st Scarlet....

Thanks for the pictures, Eric! And the .R3D files, Tonaci! I cannot wait to muck about with some more footage before our camera arrives. :)

The camera is up at digital film studios in sun valley (we have 6 epics now and a scarlet x btw) so keep tuning in for some new awesome projects on the horizon.

Very interesting. Can't we conclude from this that Scarlet has the horsepower to record 5k at 24fps as well?

Perhaps RED might offer a firmware update someday allowing 5k 24fps?

No we can't. Playback and actually capturing 5k are different beasts.

However, not knowing anything, I think the update you are looking for is called "Dragon". But I'd bet that Epic gets 6k at 24fps and up while Scaret-X gets 5k 24fps and 6k at limited fps. That's just a guess though.

I believe Epic has enough bandwidth inside the hood to handle 24fps at 8k. Again, just a guess.
 
I hope you are right about Dragon Phil. That would be awesome. It's less than a year away too isn't it? Sure hope I can afford it by then. :)

Reading and Writing are two different things Troy.

I have to admit, the grey is starting to grow on me. Looks nice with the side handle on it for sure.

Eric. Can't a guy engage in a little wishful thinking now and again? LOL

I wish I could afford 5k. Like I said, hopefully Dragon will be affordable for Scarlet owners next year. :)

Way cooler than the boring black of the Epic right? I bet those Epic owners are jealous!

But yeah, the grey is really growing on me. Nice to see they are slowly getting out there. Sure hope December production kicks into high gear. I feel like I'm 10 eagerly waiting for xmas again. LOL

Exactly how I feel. I was doing the same thing in 07 for R1 and now 2011 for epic- I can't tell if I'm standing perfectly still or moving at light speed. Something about a Red Christmas makes me insane.
 
Grey is also better for the camera when out in the hot sun. Black is just not cool.....
 
Wow, looks great! Tonaci, your only making the days longer till dec 1... you know that, right?!
