  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

13th responses here...

It's 1/3" smaller than Scarlet - how is it going to provide "deep DOF" - ??

Deep dof means a lot of stuff in the image is sharp, not the opposite. It's sarcasm (though Greg Toland might disagree).

Here's some old shots taken with a SD 2/3" DVCpro 50 camera and a regular video zoom lens at open aperture, these should give an idea how the 2/3" Scarlet DOF will look like.

Thanks Halsu! I can live with that - I think that DOF is passable up on the big screen, no?

That is the ultimate question waiting to be answered....I sure hope so!!!!

NOPE. As far as what I'm reading from Jim...its limited to format and speed.

if so... it shall be the epitome of the camera i've been waiting to buy my entire life.. and within the realm of my wallet... (depending on accessories)

RED ONE is also listed at 30 fps. They listed the max fps for full sensor.

Somehow i doubt that RED would make an 180 degree turn and start artifically crippling their hardware. I don't think that suits their philosophy.

i think we'll just have to wait to find out.. this will still be months and months away...

things can change.... :)

Is the FF35 sensor supposed to be a "full frame 35mm" sensor? I thought the RedOne had a full 35mm sensor.. but in the brochure it's showing the FF35 sensor is much larger than the RedOne's.....

Can someone help me cut through the cacophony to find the answer to a simple question: will the new RED models (especially Scarlett models) include an audio section, and, if so, will it equate performance-wise (not necessarily in # of channels) to the new audio boards in the RED ONE?

I cant believe about 3 weeks ago, I was posting something here that said 'I hope it has the form factor of the XL-series from Canon.' This is so completely revolutionary, yet logical, how come it took THIS LONG?
WAY TO GO JIM.
(Cant wait to see Scarlet Fixed-Lens price)

There's mention of audio on the DSMC I/O module along with sync signals, etc. No specifics but audio is supported.

I just noticed that the Red Electronic lenses will have image stabilization.
I'm hoping that iris control and stabilization could be offered on the canon and nikon mounts also.
