  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

+1 Module shipping next week

Well mine arrived and I can't get it to work. I enabled the Brain HDMI as the top priority in the menu, but when ever I power up the camera with my 9" Red monitor hooked up to the +1 module I get nothing but a blank screen.

I tried 3 different evf cables, no dice.

Ensure you are running compatible firmware (version 4.0.x).

If you are still having problems, please file a support ticket.

Note: you control +1 monitors with "Rear LCD" and "Rear EVF" settings, not "Brain HDMI". That is, if you want your Rear LCD to be the control surface set "Rear LCD" to the highest priority (not "Brain HDMI")

Spoke to Red this morning, assignable display-specific options planned for an unspecified future software release.

Regarding increased power consumption vis-a-vis brick battery capacity powering multiple displays, apparently minimal. Tests are in the works however, TBA.

Where can i get a 4 pin lemo connector ?

Anyone know if this is more than a HDMI to Lemo adapter? or can my RED screen be connected to it and operate menus?

I assume with the little HDMI dangler, it removes the use of the HDMI output on my Epic? (or is there a HDMI port they're routing out on left side that isn't shown in any of the photos?)

thanks in advance

connected to and operate menus.. and power it.

Yes the HDMI port form your Epic is used by the +1 Module, and there are no other ports on the +1 module other then those shown for EVF/LCD and Power out on the right side.

it's really too bad there isn't an HDMI loop through. It would have been nice to have the possibility to plug an EVF, a LCD, a SDI Video village and a wireless HDMI.

This should be possible with the Pro I/O module.

I've been able to play with one of these and it's great. You don't really notice any form factor increase in the camera size/weight and the added flexibility of running off the rear port for both single and/or dual EVF options makes things much more flexible and configurable. I will either be using one of these or a Meizler 100% of the time from now on... Now if I could just get my hands on a Meizler!

I haven't played with one yet ... but I am thinking the same thing ... +1 Module or Meizler ALL THE TIME.

Dual EVF never occurred to me though. Do your ACs appreciate that?

You can convert the SDI to wireless HDMI using your last SDI loop through, perhaps back at video village.

Or Meizler when its available for 802.11 wireless.

Its pretty exciting.

No Peter, the VF IDX-Apu plate is made to clip on to the hard mounted screws on the back of the Brain, not the Module Adaptor or the +1 Module which are really by all means of build one and the same.

So what I did is recycle and old R1 part form the ET's V-Lock mounting systems found on the ISO plate and various Battery mounts a simple "L" Bracket which mounts on the top back of the VF plate that has several threaded holes and the back end of the RED Top Plate, perfect fit.

Ketch!!!

Too long my friend! Hope all is well.

You don't have a picture of that setup actually in operation on one of your cameras do you?

Got mine today. Suddenly the camera feels so much more... complete? Loving my compact setup!!
