    A&J Case

I finally sorted out the design and got my case from A&J. I'm very pleased. The camera sits in 2" of soft foam, built with top handle, bridgeplate & dovetail, and tripod quick release plate. Just pull it out and click in onto the O'Connor. EVF and ET mounting bracket in a side compartment...

    TC Question

Here's one... If I'm rolling 48fps, timecode runs faster too, so that each frame has a unique TC number. OK. Makes sense. But if we roll for a long time, then cut, then roll again quickly, the same TC numbers get used again. Example: SHOT 1: TC START= 08:00:00:00 We roll for 3 minutes real time...

    May Need Backup Body

I have a job in NYC next week, checkout Tuesday, shoot Wednesday/Thursday. Production has asked for me to carry a backup body on the job. The rub is they want to stick with build 15 (which my camera still is; I'll upload the new firmware after the job) My pal Tubular, who I normally would turn...

    RedRushes Manual/Whitepaper?

Yes, I know it's a very simple app. But is there one? Harry

    Lost 2 Rentals This Week!

OK, Just venting I suppose. Take it with a grain of salt. I have a job Mon-Wed this week, big national spot, that they want to edit at the stage as we are shooting. Seems like the perfect Red application, no? Production has been spooked by the editor and we will be shooting with a Genesis to...

    EVF Heater?

Too bad there is no heated eyecup for the EVF... was on a job the other day in the rain and a heated eyecup sure would have been handy. Perhaps in wintertime the actual heat of the EVF may be enough... but it would be great if Red (or a third party) would develop this. I know I would buy one...

    More Stolen Gear!

Nightmare. Now it's happened to me. Last night some of my inventory was stolen from a production cube. New York City, although the PA foolishly drove the truck to his house in New Brunswick, NJ apparently. Watch out for these items. I'll post police contact info as I get it. Harry Panasonic...

    AA Sync Warning!

Just FYI... On the job today with my Red One. My DAM, following my advice, used AASync to copy the data from my drives to the client/ editor/ backup drives (rather than just drag-and-drop in OSX Finder) Because he's a thorough guy, he checks each and every shot folder on the destination drive...

    Codec Recording Error

Got my first one today. 3K 2:1, 48 fps. Recording on a Red Drive. Not a high detail scene... macro shot of a person's eye. Of course we were on a sunset exterior, losing light fast, and everyone was in a panic when the big red X came up on the screen. We just re-rolled the camera over and over...

    FS- V-Mount Red Plates

Hi there. I bought the Anton Bauer QR-RED plates for my package since I'm heavily invested in my inventory of A/B batteries. The V-Mount Red Plates that I removed are the factory originals, with the heavy metal backing plate. I assume it's the equivalent of the battery plate ($175) on the Red...

    Viewfinder Notes

So... I've been pretty busy shooting and have not had much time to post here. But I did receive my viewfinder the other day and I must say it is rather nice. VERY robust in appearance and feel. The focusing action is very smooth, and it accommodates my dioptric adjustment with room to spare (and...

    Flash Drive??? Soon???

Any update, Red Team? I could really use one for those extended chopper or car rig jobs... Cheers, Harry

    Quicktime?

Is it safe to upgrade yet? 7.4.5? Running Leopard. I just click "not now" every time the Mac asks if I want to upgrade stuff... it's getting old already. But surely this has all been resolved by now??? Red Team? Cheers, Harry

    LCD issue

Very intermittent. Sometimes the image on my LCD will "ripple" from bottom to top. Like a wave of magnification. Recorded image is fine. Build 15. Anyone else? Cheers, Harry

    Shared Rendering Power

Anyone know anything about the Amazon and Google "shared" server farms that you can subscribe to? It seems that smaller editorial facilities without render farms could use a service like this to crunch footage... Here's a slideshow from a company called RenderRocket...

    Format Media On Another Camera?

If you had a spare Red body on the job, could you use it as a media formatter? Any reason not to, other than it's a sad waste of imaging power? Cheers, Harry

    Seventeen Spots

Here's a link to three "quick-and-dirty" web spots I did a couple of weeks ago. Just an AC and a gaffer. Very low-budg. But I think we ended up with a pretty naturalistic look. Kinda wish the director had tweaked the skin tone detail a little bit. The girl was very pretty but needed a little...

    RE: Output Options

RE: Output Options Hey Red Team, I don't know what's already "baked in" to the camera's hardware architecture, but as the builds mature and more monitoring options develop, would it be possible to have the EVF and Red-LCD display differently? For instance, it might be nice to have a Panasonic...

Highspeed And Stuff With Build 15

Not sure where to post this... I was just playing around today (first day off in a while) and checking out Build 15. THANK YOU RED for the multiple outputs. I do wish that one was "clean" so I could hook it up to a DVCPro HD deck for those really persnickety clients... Anyway, I'm lovin' the...

    Speedgrade?

Maybe there is a way to use Speedgrade as a "shell" program, if that's the right word, to process footage. Let Redcine or some command-line version run "under" Speedgrade. Only because the interface makes sense to me. Cheers, Harry
