RE: Output Options
Hey Red Team,
I don't know what's already "baked in" to the camera's hardware architecture, but as the builds mature and more monitoring options develop, would it be possible to have the EVF and Red-LCD display differently? For instance, it might be nice to have a Panasonic 8.4" on the camera for the AC to pull from (720p output), the EVF relatively "clean" for the operator, and the Red-LCD with false color, simply as an exposure tool. If the DP is operating, he or she could simply open the other eye and see the Red-LCD, or if it's a big show and the DP is not operating, then he or she could look at the Red-LCD onboard for an exposure check. Given that the Red-LCD is so fantastically lightweight, maybe we could even have a 10' cable and the DP could be near the camera looking at the Red-LCD but not necessarily in the way. Don't know if impedance would begin to affect the cable at those lengths though.
Then the "other" HD outputs (1080P?) to video village. Clean with no nothing, no look around, etc. would be nice but I believe that this is not possible with the camera's basic architecture.
So my basic question is, is it possible to split up settings on the EVF and LCD this way or are they running off the same engine?
And I already ranted (somewhat tongue-in-cheek) on another thread about this, but why is it that the zoom in function is not simply a display function, but a recorded function? Does that mean false color is too? (my camera is off on a rental so I cannot check this myself)
Cheers,
Harry
