Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
Not especially exciting but I thought I would pass the information along for those that hadn't heard:

Would a top of the range 15" MBP with the rocket in a sonnet or magma and a Pegasus 6 bay enclosure (one plugged into each TB port) make for a pleasant R3D working experience? I am thinking mostly under Premiere here, with perhaps some Resolve and AE.
Just about to join the Red roller coaster...
If you pimp this out with dual 680M graphics cards, internal Raid 0, and 32GB memory - would this beast be enough for editing and grading on the move?
What would be your best bet for testing a grade when back home as I can't see an easy way to SDI out? Dreamcolor monitor?
I am interested in purchasing a secondhand Red Epic, with or without accompanying accessories.
The package must be viewable and testable in person and in the UK.
PM me what you have.
15.5-47mm T2.8 & 30-105mm T2.8 (in PL & EF mount) no details on weight.
Mentioned on the abelcine blog:

When you are focus pulling/handling/using, which lens sets/zooms make you smile as they are so beautiful, and which ones make you cringe?
Feel free to wax lyrical about your favourites or bitch about the ones you hate.
What sort of weight is considered too much for handheld?
I understand balance is extremely important, and I know about the EasyRig which would probably make life a whole lot easier. But at what point do people just say, not feasable? I assume with all the 3D rigs being used that operators are...
The subtle and not so subtle color casts that lenses give to an image, how hard is it to color correct these differences out in post?
I am mainly thinking about Angenieux and Fujinon.
Can it be done with a simple one light in either Redcine-X or Resolve, or will the way the light falls on skin...
The standard 1 lens solution for TV shows and features seems to have been the Optimo 24-290mm (and probably still is). With the Optimo's image circle being less than the Epic FF5K sensor size, is there a single lens that is an alternative one-stop-shop for TV/feature work?
The candidates that I...
From what I understand, the /i information from Cooke lenses is appearing on the monitor for the Epics. I remember reading that the only thing that wasn't displaying correctly was the focal length (I think it was always showing 45mm or something similar). It also displayed the distance in focus...
Red make a tremendous gesture by offering price reduced Epics to those that showed loyalty to them during their infancy and already I see people taking their Epic-Xs and selling them just to make a quick buck...
If I were Jim et al, this would leave a bad taste in my mouth and I would mark the...
What sort of identification/insurance do one man band/owner operators take when it comes to hiring out their equipment?
A fully decked out Epic with nice lenses can easily run you over £100K and I just know I wont be letting it out of my site when I have it, but I was wondering what sort of ID...
I saw this video: http://www.vimeo.com/22559149 with Mitch talking about the new Canon PL Mount zooms, something I never knew even existed.
14.5-60mm T2.6 and
30-300mm T2.9 to something
Mitch mentions on his site they are in the $45-50K range.
Are they shipping yet?
Anyone had a chance to...
Is this common practice?
I am thinking particularly in the UK.
I am thinking of buying 5x Leica lenses, but would not do it if I didn't think I could get some return on my investment. I also don't want the hassle of constantly trying to rent them out and worrying about them when I do get a...
Has anyone tried the ARRI Alura's on an Epic yet? Just wondering if they cover and what people's thoughts of them are?
Pro's and Con's vs the Optimo DP lenses? (Pro: T2.6 and greater range vs Cons: weight and not as wide?)
Also curious if the Optimo 24-290mm - the big lad - covers the full 5K...
