  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Build 158...

Hans Georg, please do your scripting magic!
Thanks in advance!

Oops, forgot one:

"Auto Save RMD" menu item added.

Turn this on to enable the RSX replacement.

Also, check out the list view in the bins.
Lots of RMD additional metadata fields added that can be modified.
Right click on the column headers to select which columns to show.

This makes me VERY, VERY, VERY happy. RMD is going to open some doors.

Another small but significant addition, cmd-a now works to select all in the timeline.

That means don't change it for now until we get that into the sdk also. (very soon) and because we're expecting to make some changes.

This might already have been requested, but any
chance of an Import Option for Tif an/or DPX files?

Or perhaps a converter to turn Tif/DPX files in R3D files?

Oh wow, could this be the start of Clipfinder with REDCINE-X support? Clipfinder-X perhaps?

The new REDcolor and REDgamma are quite nice, but having to leave behind the Clipfinder/Red Alert! workflow I had running so well hasn't been nearly as enjoyable.

also what's the word on UNIX/Linux support...? that would be extremely niiice in the future.

Yeah, I would love this - at least for Redline. I have a few Linux boxes that would be great as a little RED farm for my Scarlet footage (since I can't really afford a RED Rocket)

REDCINE-X works quite well in Wine on Linux already, but there are problems with the window ordering (sometimes its hard to bring the monitor to the front, for instance) and moving windows that cause problems. Since it's made with Qt, and already written to be cross platform, it shouldn't be hard to port though, should it?

A native version would be great though since I can only get about 18 frames per second at 1/8 res and I think that this computer should be able to do realtime at that resolution. DPX output works and everything but I don't think Quicktime does - I couldn't get the settings window to come up (but I don't think I have installed the Windows version of Quicktime on my Wine install).

If you do make a native port, you could replace Quicktime with x264 for H.264 encoding at least. It's open source and is a really advanced encoder.

Back before you were born Jim, in 1979 and I was shooting 2nd unit on Blue Lagoon in Fiji, there was an island for sale like the photo. I will see if it is still for sale!

Hello,

does anyone have any problems with tearing in the user interfaces of REDCINE-X and ROCKETCINE-X? It doesn't matter if i'm watching in fullscreen mode or not. It doesn't stop switching the debayersettings. And it'll appear only in the GUI's not on the SDI out of the rocket. I tried it on several machines with no luck. Did anyone experience the same?

MacPro early 09 / 2 x 3 GHz Quad Core / 10 GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT / REDROCKET latest FW / REDCINE-X 158 / REDROCKET-X 1740

Any help is appreciated!

RMD-?

RMD-?

Deanan,
I'm sure a stupid question, but what is RMD? Is that same as saving the look files as RSX? --- so if i have made color temp changes, curves etc....I can then save that entire look to a project and file it away? AND, if that is the case, can i save multiple looks of a project? OR how about of a clip? How can i duplicate a clip, make color changes to it, then compare to the changes I've made on the same clip---usually I'll do this and make 2-3 looks to it and change color temp/curves/FLUT™ etc....

Thanks and excuse the ignorance on this newb question. Now if RMD is none of that---i guess i don't need to know about it==-=i see it as an option to set in SETTINGS - as auto save that is. So i guess if auto save is not selected, it saves ONLY when i save my project?

Is there a way to customize the controls on the Tangent Wave? The reset button on the jog dial (levels) for shadows, mids, and highlights performs as expected but the reset button on the trackball (color) of shadows, mids, and highs resets both the color and the levels. I know this is an early pre-release and there are a slew of other things to address before a third party piece of hardware but i thought i'd mention it.
