  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Nikon G/DX mount for RED is here! I have about 50 in stock now.

This mount allows you to use G series Nikon lenses that have no iris ring on your RED. Turn the brass knob clockwise to open the iris; counterclockwise to close. You can use this mount with all your non G series lenses as well. Nikon DX lenses, which are all G series lenses, have been designed for digital Nikons that have a sensor that is just slightly larger than the sensor in the RED camera.

I will post a link to a new video that shows how the mount operates, how to set F stop, etc in the next few days.

Price for the mount swap is $295 plus shipping. I had to raise the price because it was necessary to mill a new base plate with a boss around the screw mount. Drilling and tapping a hole in existing mounts doesn’t provide enough thread material for robust function.

This mount is black anodized with a stainless screw and brass knob. Springs have the bushings installed.

We are swapping with existing RED Nikon mount holders only. You must send us your original mount plus $295 and shipping charge to get the new G/DX mount.

This looks awesome. I'm just about get a whole bunch of Nikon Lenses in return for a filming job, this might make me change my order and get different ones. The best of both world. Just great.

Whats Red's take on the modified nikon mount. Will this effect the camera warranty in anyway ?


Has anybody got there G mount yet, if so, how do you like it?
 
Yes, I can make a GDX Nikon mount for the IMS. Can't modify the original Nikon IMS F mount because the rotating locking mechanism would interfere with the iris screw, so have to make a new mount.

Not sure of the cost or delivery time; depends on the number of end users, and right now, I think there is only one end user!
 
Doug, it's only a matter of time. If I had the money for a Red right now, I'd get one, an IMS, and your G-DX mount for it. I'm sure there are many others who will too.

Hi Doug,

Thanks for a look up at the IMS Nikon Professional mount.

If doesn't work with Professional Nikon F "because the rotating locking mechanism would interfere with the iris screw" it should work with the standard IMS Nikon F mount.

Would you be so kind to sent back to me via FEDEX my IMS Professional Nikon F mount?

Sent you PM and email about my Fedex account.

When I get IMS Standard Nikon F mount I'll sent it to you for GDX conversion.

Is this a modification to the Nikon mount that Red ships? The word "swap" is throwing me off.
