  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Meet Snappy @ ISO 800

I think Snappy is the name of the M-X R-1. But I don't know.

It seems this lobster got a legend before cooking...

I am not sure if he would have choosen a different option if available?

My bad,

but really nice image if thats what we will get out of the M-X sensors. Can't wait to get hands on EPIC.

Merry Christmas everywhere, and happy holidays to those not celebrating Christmas :)

Cheers,
Axel

Gorgeous!
Thanks Jarred for posting...any chance to see a 2K highspeed shot from the MX sensor soon?
Happy New Year!

Marc

How can I watch on Win 7 with only regular QT installed and no FCP nor Prores codec.

Mysterious...

:confused5:

I'm using windows 7 ultimate 64bit(the free final release that works until june) and just downloaded the newest quicktime from apple.com and it played no problem. So I'm guessing upgrade your quicktime or uninstall it and download a new one. You can encode prores only in FCP but you should be able to play it back on anything.

Has there been any official discussion as to when we might be able to obtain said M-X upgrades on our Ones?

Not that I've seen- it has been very quiet on that front ...

Hasn't been said. But TATTOO program members as well as EPIC-X Stage 2 people get "priority" M-X upgrades for their RED Ones. We can speculate all we want about what that means, but I'm betting that it will be after EPIC-X ships and when there are adequate quantities available. TATTOO people first, obviously and they may even get to be way ahead of the crowd on this too. Then they'll call in the Stage-2 people, etc..

I know that this thread is about the R1 MX sensor, but when might we get some footage from the "Fixed" lens Scarlet?

heh heh heh. I wouldn't put money on that :)

Does this mean that R1s can be upgraded before Stage 2?

OK, I should reword the question: Would you put money on that R1s will be upgraded before Stage 2? :Angel_anim:

from recent posts by Jim, one could think the epic scarlet puzzle might take a bit more time to be fully solved so as not to loose any time they are playing in the garage with the new chip in a working camera...

so, while they wait for the final asic etc... good ol' R1 with new MX eyes could be ready to roll soon... earlier than first expected when the optimistic "if all goes as planned" late 2009 Tattoo schedule was announced

Those MX ISO ISO experimentations going on are a necessary step toward the epics anyway so it is all good for everyone

hopefully we can upgrade our cameras soon and let Jim and the RED teams take all the time they need to make a perfect epic

I would probably take that bet :)

The sensor upgrade program we are hoping to begin in late January. As you can all see from me and Jim's back and forth footage posts we are doing the final software tweaks now.. and the progress day to day is stunning.

Would this suggest that the sensor/color science software/firmware part of the project is running ahead of the asic/camera development part of the program? Or is that reading too much between the lines?

Great news that finally could confirm my early expectation!!!:hurray::hurray::hurray:
