Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Canon vs Nikon

Canon vs Nikon

Here goes ANOTHER NIKON ORDER. My sixth sense says there will be more Nikon orders than Canon.

Atleast that is what posts are suggesting so far.

A lot of us who have been following this for a long time and know Birger's history know that the mount was developed for Canon first, probably because the all electronic nature of the canon ef lenses made this simpler or more attractive several years ago when birger first made the EF mount for the industrial/scientific community. Thus we have always known that the mount would be for Canon first and planned accordingly and so have not been posting each order for Canon.

Your sixth sense may be correct, but AFAIK the DSLR professional photography market has been leaning Canon for quite a while. I have a number of pro still photo friends and many of those now Canon pros (usually former Nikonites) have given up on the Canon/Nikon (Mercedes/BMW) argument because they know from experience that they both make some great products and the argument tends to take on a religious tone and once you make the break it becomes less important.

I ordered 2 for Canon on Saturday, ten minutes after I found out the form was up. I may go ahead and order another Canon and 1 Nikon just to try it out and because the deal with the bluetooth makes it attractive enough that I don't think I can lose.

Confirmations for orders received as of Friday 23 November 23:59 EST have been emailed. I will post in a few hours with another update. We hope to clear the entire backlog by late this evening.

To be honest we did not think about how much paperwork would be generated, and how we would handle it.

Thanks Erik, confirmation received.

When do these start shipping?

BTW- We primarily use PL mount lenses...what is involved in changing to your mount? Is it something that can be done in the field?

Question:
You get a blue tooth remote free if you order all
the goodies but by tomorrow at 5:00 PM.

I will go back through this thread to see if
I can find the answer to my own question....

And with your mount we don't need the
RED Nikon mount?

Thanks

Erik, of Birger Engineering, has been making very few appearances at REDUser of late, even fewer to answer questions. Better get crackin', if you want the free Blue Tooth unit.

So, no, use of the electronic Birger Nikon Mount does not require the manual RED Nikon Mount. In fact, it supplants it.

These are good news! Congrats!! :-)

E. :matrix:

Mine (my reservation) is already there! :sorcerer:

Hey, how'd you get that picture of my office? Good thing I cleaned it up before the shot was taken.

Love how there's still a clear spot on the desk for a fresh cup of tea - he has his priorities in place!! :)

Down the rabbit hole I go...

Add another Nikon mount. It's officially ordered.

Canon mount ordered.

Canon mount ordered.

Placed my order about an hour ago.

Looking forward to the public unveiling of this system.

There's a clear spot on the desk?!!! And here I was holding the cup of tea in my hands all this time.

Maybe you put it down to take the picture!

In the middle of the desk in the picture there's a circular object with brown stuff in it. :)

Edit:
On closer inspection in Photoshop, it appears to be a roll of tape. How disappointing - there I was being really impressed with his mug of tea spot! :)
