  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

IBC - GPU Build REDCINE-X Beta 21

funny was having a conversation about this with my friend all day today via txt.

been debating which card to get between the 780 or Titan its like a $350 difference like $100 for every extra GIG lol

this is all very exciting faster transcodes is always better.

That board can dual boot so I could run Windows but its designed to run OS X. Only wall you run into with Windows is no ProRes transcodes. Allot of peeps are stuck on FCP7 I dont get it.

Thanks for that update !

It crashed the second I opened it.
I'm on Windows 7 46bits, 3.4Ghz i7, 16gb, GTX 590.

What driver version do you have installed? Please email us (redcinex at red) your RCX log (see location below) before doing the following:

Can you clear out your RCX preference folder to see if that helps? It's under Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\red\RedCineX

Cid: go with the Titan :)

Sounds like an awesome update, can't wait to try it.

Multiple GPU support is coming soon.
How does it handle multiple GPUs (or rather, multiple cards) now? Can I choose which card to use for processing or does it automatically use the one that's connected to my displays or the one that isn't?

5k HD test on a MBPR with the new RedcineX Pro, full debayer to 1080p, aprox. 4-6 fps which is a vast improvement from 1-2 fps previously.

In the preferences menu you can choose which video card to use. It's under Preferences -> System.

No way, stay in this one, it's more fun! :)

hahahaha this is all too exciting. I feel like a confused kid at Christmas. Where the hell do I go and which one do I open!

So based off my literal 5 minutes of testing I'd say if you have fast drives and a Titan you'll be seeing about 1/2 debayer realtime playback of 5K 5:1 material.

Maybe on certain systems full resolution playback is possible. I'll need more than 5 minutes for that.

So rad.

Glad you're liking it Phil!

small issue : when rocket decoding is enabled, the playhead doesn't not move anymore (but the clip still play back as it should)... OS X

BTW, loving the 5.x camera firmware new menu GUI and overall feel... great work (no thread for this yet it seems but is available for download from beta section)

I have a Hackintosh with a Titan and can't get it to run. Is anyone with a Hackintosh and Titan able to get it to run? I have a similar issue with alpha 18, but had to install the Mavericks Nvidia drivers to switch the GPU used in RCXP prefs to the Intel HD4000 built-in, then go back to the Mountain Lion drivers. If I try to switch OpenCL back to Titan it crashes. Right now, alpha 18 runs but I can't get 21 to run. I know it's not supported, but if anyone else with a similar setup has any tricks please let me know.

Okay. Now that I've had 15 minutes to test this out.

Well. Although I loathe to use this term, I'm just going to say this is a game changer.

Entire workflow basically just got a huge upgrade. And it would appear that encoding/exporting is accelerated as well.

I feel like there's a ghost in this machine. And it's chewing on REDCODE a whole hell of a lot faster.

I just tried it on the MacBook Retina and even thought he gpu is not so powerful its definitely faster.
Before I could only playback in 1/8 debayer in realtime, but now I can playback in 1/4 debayer for 5k media. That is a great difference between 1/8 and 1/4 is a very big quality improvement.

Very promising I like the features too.

One feature I always missed
- Auto Debayer setting. I wish Redcine could just pick debayer automatically so it will play it in realtime similar to After Effects will auto switch. The reason is that 1/4 works in 5k perfectly but if I'm switching to 2k slow motion shots I want it to be in 1/1 or 1/2 since 1/4 will look very bad.
So basically it could pick by itself for example
- 1/4 5k
- 1/4 4k
- 1/2 3k
- 1/1 2k

Best way would be if the program had a quick benchmark tool that measure how fast you can play and then adjust the settings automatically.
Cheers!
/Andreas
