  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- Scarlet Upgrade Program

It seems the BT Scarlet was in fact the deal of a lifetime :D

We love you guys.... anytime we have the opportunity to do something special for you guys.. we usually do. That was one.

Jarred, thank you very, very much. While I'll always crave that 100fps 6k, I think 60fps 5k will suit me just fine.

Is that 5k a 1.3 crop? I'm sure specs will be out Thurs, but you know how we all get :)

When can we see full specs? Will we get 6k at 24fps? Also WS mode? Anamorphic mode?

Cheers!

The new BMC cam is one of the first to have global shutter. Sony F55 I t hink might have it, but I said Sony F65 which does not have it

F65 have a spinning mirror, That in my book counts even higher than a global shutter. The red varible internal ND filter stuff is also something that I see as more value than the sony and BM glbal shutters. As a ND filter that can shut the light out completely and also be dimmed in 100steps is somthing really cool. It allows you to varispeed with ND correction, That is pretty much unheard of up until today... It' leaves the others behind in the dust when it comes to stop motion timelapes, varispeed etc.

Deal's of a life time regardless how you slice it! I for one will go with option 2, i have fallen head of heals in love with my scarlet to a point my wife has branded her my other wife. I'm hoping to be ale to squeeze the money out for the upgrade by the end of the year or the very least swing it with my tax return. I have a new baby on the way which is gonna take priority, cant wait to hear the full specs on Scarlet Dragon really hope for 6k at 24fps but if not thats alright 5k 60fps is just balls to the wall awesome as well;-), I LOVE THE RED TEAM FOR ALL THE HARD WORK THEY DO!

Is it possible, for european owners and when our turn in the queue arrives, to go to LA and have the upgrade done there directly to avoid the VAT etc?

Will 6K be available for time-lapse or at a framerate lower than 24fps?

If upgrading to Scarlet Dragon now, will one be able to upgrade to Epic Dragon a year down the road, for the same $9500 cost difference?

(Please don't take either of these questions as begging-for-more. I'm ECSTATIC about this news. 60fps 5K with better dynamic range and less noise is PHENOMENAL.)

i agree, I was just saying that no other camera really has global shutter at this point in order to illustrate to the other guy that you can shoot without global shutter just fine...everyone else has done so up until this point.

Just remember the Motion Mount inherently knocks off over 1 stop of light even when switched off as long as it's mounted so it does have drawbacks
