  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4K Delivery... get ready.

Seriously, if you guys ever decide to go beyond projectors and into displays and make them here in the US, you'd more than likely succeed with your quality controls and aesthetics. I would certainly go for a 4K RED TV with full-array LED. A nice 60-80-inches would be perfect for the 4K home theater.

None you would or could buy here in the US. Next year is when the 4K product lines are released and there will be 4K displays in the popular "big screen" sizes as well as the "if you have to ask how much it cost then you probably can't afford it" sizes. Nobody is planning smaller 4K displays at this point.
 
Is there going to be any news on the projector as well since it has an onboard RedRay?
 
Perhaps everybody but me knows already the answer, but what is the perfect delivery format/specs for this projector?

Dude. You guys did it!

You must have one of the most difficult jobs ever -- when we hit the nail on the head at times in the forum, but you are unable to confirm our speculation.

Like others have mentioned on this thread, I saw this coming back in '07/08. You simply needed to be paying attention, but you guys gave away enough hints to clue us in. This represents a real paradigm shift to the establishment. Wow. WOW. I'm so excited, I am truly at a loss for words. Truly. But I needed to tell you: THANK YOU! A million times over. Thank you.

I remember when RED fell victim to a bout of theft (read: corporate espionage); that incident totally reminded me of the case of Louis Le Prince. At one point, I was sincerely worried about you guys. The film industry is owned by some rather unsavory types (not that there aren't decent people mixed in -- many of them are right here -- some of my absolute dearest friendships were made on sets and at studios -- but the brokers -- hmm). I have experienced it firsthand, and those that know what I'm speaking of...well, they get it. Everyone else, feel free to chalk it up to conspiracy theory, and paranoia. HA!

The RED team has done the impossible. You've created an industry, and rattled another behemoth -- maybe even forcing a paradigm shift. It will be interesting to see how the establishment responds in years ahead -- I have a STRONG inkling, and I plan to be at the crest of that wave. :) Did I say, "Thank you?" Haha.

A large part of how things develop will be up to the artists wielding these tools. There are some bright filmmakers using the Internet like this already. One of my alums, Freddie Wong is a total kick ass, gun-toting, Internet action star. People like him will be the ones to look out for. Hell, I may even borrow my friend's apartment and make a movie at his place. Hahaha. Sorry. I couldn't help myself.

It's a given that talent and ability will be appropriated into the system wherever possible. The first "Paranormal Activity" that goes viral over a Netflix REDRAY player is going to have everyone shitting themselves. Hahaha. The artists that retain their copyrights, are going to be in new territory...each artist will soon have the ability to produce and distribute directly to the end user.

Now, I can hear someone's response already -- no, I don't think the traditional system is going away. It's just going to modify itself. It won't have any choice if the filmmakers are doing their jobs. And that simply will equate to opportunity.

Please don't EVER sell out to the highest bidder. Not that I think that will EVER happen -- And this is made especially true, given some of the things Jim has uttered about his experience with taking Oakley public and his thoughts on young talent that sells out too soon -- but MOSTLY on his feelings about YOU.

ALL YOU GUYS ARE SUPERSTARS. And thank you for the pictures of the assembly line...they're sweet. Keep 'em coming, please.
