  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4K Delivery... get ready.

Jarred, if it is possible, can you confirm that you don´t need to use thunderbolt to enjoy all the features. Is it a pure playback/media device or could you hook it up to a computer to expand the use of it further? Ordering a new workstaion next week and it would be sad if I would miss some killer features if I choosed the wrong platform (pc/mac).
 
I don't post much here, but I spend a lot of time reading. This is really, really exciting news!

Does this also mean that the RED projector will be coming out at the same time? Is the concept the same (i.e. that the projector will "include" the REDray)?

The next 007 Bond will be shot on the Red Dragon, captured in 6K, finished & projected at RedRay/Projector 4K. The working title is "2K Is Not Enough". :)

I don't think what you're suggesting is currently possible. Thunderbolt doesn't work that way. The Redray player is a content server. Thunderbolt is for connecting computers to peripherals.

Can't wait to get my hands on this. Now i have to find a 4k-TV, hehe. Hope they're available soon here.
Just one important question about your content-distribution-partner: Is he ready to distribute worldwide or is it just the US for now and additional countries later?

Cool, congratulations!

I got a bit upset after the price cuts, yesterday I saw the Side-by-side documentary and realised why I still have huge respect for Red.

Can't wait until we have the laser projector and the RedRay. To be able to both color correct and conform and _view_ films for inspiration in-house as they should be seen on a big screen in full quality, without a surreal investment will bring a lot of opportunities and joy...
 
This should finally help people to understand that there is no need for any other camera/distribution company. RED must have been planning this "system" of acquisition start to exhibition finish for many years. And now even a content distribution network is being unveiled. Wow!

RED will possibily piss me off someday as they have many with the recent repricing. But I'll get over it and move forward with them because they seem to be the only moving image company that can take the entire chain and improve... nay... reinvent, each step in the chain.

We the people, in order to form a more perfect union between content and exhibition hold these truths to be self-evident. That RED rules.
