  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4K Delivery... get ready.

Im going to start telling people 4K laser that you look directly into will cause death........marketing wise it would most certainly sell more amongst my friends ;)

This is amazing Jarred! Finally. Been waiting so long...can we pre-order at all, or do we have to wait for Red.com to go live?

4K Displays are here. and their prices are dropping every month. Soon they will be in reach of the masses.
And then there is REDRAY... the crown jewel of 4K content delivery.
For REDRAY we have partnered with one of the most innovative content distribution companies that both content owners and viewers have ever seen...and we built it right into REDray.
Expect the official REDRAY and 4k Content Distribution network announcement along with pre-orders to happen in a couple weeks.. but I thought it was important to give you all a heads up so you can prepare.
Our Production Lines are churning.. manufacturing is ramping up. We are ready.... are you?

This is turning into one hell of a week.

This was one of my dreams in 2007.

I love the first post.

Some people thought I was nuts. You guys got it!

RedCode for acquisition, and soon, RedRay delivery Codec, are simply unstoppable.
The competition still doesn't understand this. They don't get this.

RED RAY, 4K distribution and 4k home products (Projectors, Monitors) are ultimately going to be more profitable than all the cameras RED can sell.
If Red can maintain a place through-out that vertically integrated system, from acquisition to eyeball, they will have nailed it. Officially a major league
player like Some Other compaNY.

I just hope I can afford a projector for my home theatre!

I know we have been harping about 4K distribution forever... but it is about to get very real.
...

We are ready.... are you?

And there you have it! Nice. Can't wait.

I wonder how this all works out wrt MPEG LA and H264/265 etc.
Anyone have links to the 4K distro agreement online?
I haven't followed this in ages.

RED has their own compression codec for delivery. They don't use H264/H265.

I'm not suggesting they do. I want to know more about the 4k distribution agreement that was only recently settled in Japan.

What would be really awesome is if they had thunderbolt and worked as a Red Rocket as well.

Is a REDRAY included in the projector?

Hey Jarred. I'm releasing my web series, Magehaven in 4K. Think you could pass along the distributor to me? Or do I just wait until the announcement?

I wonder if this content delivery system will be a traditional curated store or a more Apple/Microsoft 'open' marketplace. Democratizing distribution without the need for a 'distributor' would be enormous. Make a short film and then red/their partner simply charges a hosting and traction fee of the rental.

Democratizing stuff is kinda what we do .... so you are definitely barking up the right tree.

Cool Jim! I won't missing it...

Point me to the White Papers which explain how this is all put together from "Action" to selling Popcorn ..... thanks.

My guesses/hopes.. Here are the platform players I can think of at the moment... But I'm not sure if it's consumer or pro.

Amazon
Netflix
iTunes
YouTube
Vimeo
Vuze

There are a bunch of others that do some really great streaming but it's not really into content... Like bright cove or wistia.

There is basically zero chance it's an established player like Dolby, nec, barco.

Hmmm... It would be very cool if it were one of the majors players.... That might really turn broadcasting upside down.
