  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

We are going back to do more low light tests tonight.

Hey, not sure what settings your currently using Michael, but ive found these to work very well:

h.264
Profile: High
Video:
CBR 20-25 mb/s (anything higher is usually overkill)
Audio:
AAC 320 kb/s

48fps does look nice. Looking forward to the other tests you're doing.

I notice quite a bit of noise on the wall after the 20 second mark. Are you seeing that in the RAW footage, or is that a compression artifact?

Edit: I'm thinking it must be the compression.. the bottom left of his jacket has the same issue at 24-26 seconds in.

My first post! Just wanted to say thanks for posting the footage and letting us know your Scarlet number.
Big ups to Texas! One of my good buddies is from Lockhart, so I have a soft spot for the Hill Country...

No problem!

I really wish I knew the perfect settings for vimeo. The one I have up now looks great, but definitely not as good as the R3d. I guess that is the case for all RED footage.

I am really pleased with the way the r3d looks.

I've uploaded lotsa 1080p footage to vimeo and these may be a good start, btw i use a conversion utility called xilisoft video converter ultimate with the following settings

Profile: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
Set size to 1080p
Bitrate around 5000
Frame Rate: whatever you shot
Aspect Ratio: 16:9 or whatever you shot
Same quality: True
Zoom: to none

Again, these are just for reference, but then again you shot at 3k so some testing is in store.

BTW, your R3D is amazing, i took it into premiere and applied some looks........GORGEOUS WOW, RED IS AWESOME!

maybe Vimeo has a limit on those unless one is a plus user. nonetheless a lot of people probably appreciate the post. Maybe upload it here or onto a hosting account next time
