Billy,

Thanks for posting this!! Phil had hinted about Zeiss working on something that we would here about real soon. I'm glad it is what I was hoping it would be

Totally don't understand the market this is aimed at compared to current offerings at the moment. It is early days though, so maybe the image is pure Otus and APO in which case they could be ones to watch...

cheers
Paul

The tricky thing with an early leak like this (if that is what it is) is that the people who have used these lenses can't talk about them yet... the import questions can't be answered...

for example.

Do they cover monstro?
Do they flare?
If yes what colour?
What weight are they?
Are they sufficiently free from chromatic aberration?
Is the look like ARRI/Zeiss masters or do they depart from that approach?
Is it a photographic look or more cinema in approach? Upfront crisp or more easy going?

... anyway good to see an interesting addition to FF glass... and the speed is very impressive... also I am very pleased that Zeiss are still committed to high end cinema glass!!

Nice range, Leica and ARRI will get some good competition from these lenses when the prices are around the € 15k, as mentioned in the article.

I can answer all of these questions after the official announcement, but I have checked coverage and will fill you in shortly.

Beyond that, I have a red dot on my forehead until then.

I think I'll wait for the Stuffed-Crust Supremes.

In terms of price point and where they sit in the Zeiss range, could these be considered the new Ultraprimes? The Ultraprimes of the LF world?

Hey Schneider-Kreuznach, you gents still awake over there?

Just to add to the discussion... unless the mounts are interchangeable, why would you want LPL mount on these? Unless there are two distinctly different designs for the sets, this means they were more-or-less designed for PL/EF and the LPL is just a mount change. So if there is going to be a PL to LPL adapter, wouldn't just getting these in PL cover all PL and LPL cameras? If you got these in LPL, they would not be able to be used on PL, even though they were designed to. Just throwing out some food for thought.
