I'm curious what everyone's plans are for when (if) they get a scarlet? What is your first planned project, after some test footage?

I'm going to shoot my first feature on the Scarlet I get. It's going to be an action movie most likely.

I've got a boat load of documentary pieces to do, and it would be great to use the Scarlet FF to get that shallow DOF I love so much, not to mention better low light performance then what I can currently get.

Porn... Duh!

jk :)

LOL!

heh.

Myself? I'm not the auteur that many here are but I'll be shooting my kids.....just like I did with my DVXb cams and then we'll see about more family footage and then....well, maybe a short or two to get a feel for the Scarlet. 2/3" for me btw. Any bigger is too much for my wee budget.

First project is shooting tests and footage with as many different old c-mount and PL mount lenses for 16mm/2/3" format as I can get my hands on. While they may not perform as well as new lenses, they are a small fraction of the cost and may serve well for students, indies, and hobbyists like myself with small budgets, or film schools with significant 16mm lens inventories.

I (and I think I speak for many) would love to see the results of those tests. Any plans to put online your findings?

As for me, I'm looking to pick up a Scarlet 2/3" to utilize in short films and indie features.

Mostly Narrative work for me...

Thus its going to be hard to justify actually buying it....

I'm looking at the fixed lens 2/3rd kit. I'm hoping to use it to film live acoustic street performances of different independent artists around the country. I'm really hoping that the I/O module can be used wirelessly, that would make it so much better for me to shoot videos like that! But other than that I'm also hoping to do some shorts and maybe even a feature length further down the line. Red has opened up lots of new possibilities!

I've got a comedy/drama feature scheduled for November - hoping I'll have my Scarlet for that.
