  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Your First Red Shoot

Yes... Do another contest. I need to win something after I didn't win the snowboard. :)

I know I'm going to shoot my kids, grandkids, drag races, and anything that moves! I just might even shoot a RED commercial! Of course I will need Jarred's help for that...

Jim

If there's ever a Call for entries, I will be more than honored to submit spec spots for Red. Just thinking about what an awesome piece of gear it will be, sure gets the juices flowing.

I'm looking forward to the first Red Fest.

Maybe we ought to do a global competition, whereby each country that enters has to produce a feature length movie in a week between all the RedOne owners there. Would be great to walk onto a set with 20+ RedOne cameras all clammering for the best shot lol. A bit of healthy competition between countries is always a good thing :)

My first RED shoot is going to be the feature film "Boys of Autumn". I expect to begin principal cinematography in October depending on delivery of my RED. The film is about the real life account of a college student who took up Crystal Meth as a way of coping with his younger brother's suicide, and as a result his world got thrown upside down, and he struggled with his addiction, finally succumbing to it. The site for the film will be going up in the next little while. www.boysofautumnmovie.com

If there is another contest, I hope the rules are thought out before hand.
Aloha

My first RED shoot could happen as soon as the week after NAB, depending on RED's delivery schedule of #8. What will it be? There are stunning images all around where I live - the California Central Coast. Me and #8 are going to hike around Big Sur together shooting in 4k REDCODE RAW @ 24fps the following stock footage: wide panoramas of the rugged coastline, sunsets over crashing surf, 4,000 pound elephant seals fighting, and gray whales with calves migrating north. I'll also do some 4k REDCODE RAW @ 24fps wine country/fine dining stock footage: vineyards, wine pouring into glasses, sizzling food, etc. I'll also shoot some action sports stock footage of surfing and kiteboarding in 2k REDCODE RAW @ 60fps. It will probably only take two days to shoot all of this...

After that? A D-cinema feature and several HDTV series and specials in development for 2007-08...more news on those projects soon...

Gibby's disguise exposed...

Gibby's disguise exposed...

Gibby -
I've started wearing disguises in public. It's working like a charm. This whole reduser ninja spy thing is a bit scary - I painted a giant DELTA on the side of my private jet - so, they are NOT going to spot me sneaking off to shoot tests with ....

Reliable sources have verified Gibby's disguise for avoiding reduser detection in the field. "The disguise also allows an undetectable presence while filming in the wild," said the reliable source anonymously.

So if you see a 6' version of one of these on the CA central coast not carrying a basket of brightly colored eggs then you've found RED #8:

LOL...you blew my cover Sharkguy!

Hmmmm...maybe a new elephant seal costume would do the trick...

Warning: I travel with pepper spray
2nd level of defense: martial arts
3rd level of defense: track star in high school (without bunny costume)

It will probably only take two days to shoot all of this...

I am kind of hoping this is the sort of footage we'll see at NAB in the looping demo... you need to get with 'da boys next week and crank it out before the show...

I'd definitely be up to that...but I'm sure 'da boys are slammed next week with preparations for NAB. I would guess that they already have some great images to project and loop at NAB. Can't wait to see 'em...

AMAZING footage! What was that shot with? Makes me want to try basejumping so much!

Welcome to Norway! ;-) Anytime

Awesome footage btw!

Go ahead and shoot whatever you want, but for the love of God, no more ducks! Every time a new camera comes out, here comes the duck footage. No more fricken ducks. I hate ducks. The wacky feet... big pointy bill just begging to poke and eye out. They smell like cabbage too.
