  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Holy Sh*t that's a great shot. I'm trying to imagine it on a 40ft screen, I think I would dive for cover under my seat... Santa brought you some eagles and a fresh carcass, what else could you really get for a guy who has 5 Reds, a jet with a groovy paint job, and a 959 ?

Jim that's incredibly sharp, have you looked at any of this at 4K? I love this stuff.

Did you leave the camera setup pointing out the window and waiting for an opportunity? If so, is that eagle bait?

I hear those crows don't wait for the lambs to die before picking their eyes out. Nice metaphor for the corporate world too....

You do not seem to have any shortage of eagles where you are ... but if you are interested in the Alaskan wildlife, my partner and I run trips in the Katmai area.

That's twice now something you've shot has made me spontaneously exclaim "F#@k me!" (you'll just have to imagine the long, drawn-out F-word; I can't seem to figure out how to replicate it in print).

Not only have you brought one amazing camera into existence, but you really know how to use the bloody thing.

Sure, maybe the tripod just happened to be ready. Maybe the distance just happened to be perfectly measured. Fine. All that blood and all that fur from the carcass just happened to be on the front door at RED?

Stop killing s@#t. We know it takes good pictures.

It's a slippery slope boys and girls and we're all going to be guilty when we start seeing really great footage of so called natural disasters, car wrecks, and murder scenes.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. And where there's 4k footage of grisly deaths and murder scenes there's you know who.

[EDIT: In case it isn't clear. I am jokingly implying that Jim kills lambs in order to bait eagles for quality pictures. I really don't think that he would kill a lamb, or cause a natural disaster, or a car wreck, or murder someone for a red promo. Promise. Sorry, it's late.]

A plausible alibi.

My friend's cousin's neighbors daughter is the great niece of someone who sat next to him during the first Hannibal Lecter movie. Said that during the infamous scene "Do you still hear them crying? You tried to save just one, didn't you, Clarice." He said, and I quote "What a load of crap." and started laughing, uncontrollably.

True story.

"I live out here in in the wilderness, just me, my girl, and no one for miles and miles. No one. Not a soul. Not a single person who might theoretically call the ASPCA, just making conversation. No one except these lambs I guess. But that's becoming less of a problem." - Guess who.

I agree... eagles should not be allowed to eat animals. There was a fledgling hawk around my house that had been kicked out to fly by his mom, no less. I've read if they don't catch and eat prey within a short period of time, they wither and die from lack of strength. The last time I saw the little predator bastard, he was gettin' pretty skinny. HAH! HAH! HAH! I thought.

A lot of people out here (middle of next-to-nowhere) know the history here. Pretty classic. Sometime (different forum) I'll share. But for now, I guess you are left to your imagination. I'll certainly stop posting "Planet Earth" stuff if it really bothers you. BTW, isn't "Planet Earth" G-rated?

1-5 (Couldn't Resist) I was just joking! The footage is stellar, of course, but when I saw the second picture I had this sudden vivid image of you dragging lamb carcasses around to bait the Eagles.* And I started laughing, and thought maybe someone else would get a kick out of it too. Sorry, without intonation I guess it came off as serious (even the natural disasters though?).

*You know, footage of Don Henley tearing at a carcass. If that won't sell cameras nothing will.
 
OK. I feel better (I almost cancelled your order). There is a very interesting story about this island that includes John Wayne. Someday I'll spill the beans. No harm was done to any animals for this shoot. The animals here all die of natural causes, are eagle food, or sold to a market nearest you as prime rib... or cat food.

My scanning batch job ended so now I finally watched it....kick ass!! Dang, that is one fun shot.

I grew up in a big family, I completely relate to this fellow :-)

Also hope that people here and beyond this forum would get the value of a metaphor that this shot has and the meaning that it can create.
