When I woke up in 2011 i expected to read some news about new products and deliveries for 2011 on RED website.
Mainly:
1) Specs of EPIC Light
2) Cost of EPIC Light
3) Delivery Time for Both EPIC Light and Scarlet for ordinary people on Planet Earth.

So so far Nothing..........

So while some of us are taking deliveries of Pana af100 or Sony F3 in next weeks, others like myself would be very grateful to hear something concrete about EPIC Light........:nopity:

Any news would be Good News!

Regards
jiri/australia

Lots of others is waiting for certain 4k firmware :emote_popcorn:

1. It is been announced that is is no longer called Epic Light. Its called EPic - S

why not take some time given you have all of 6 posts and read the VOUME of new information regarding the program. OR Just click on Jannard and read his posts alone for a few pages and you will have all your questions answered.

Finally. its still 2010 on the west coast. 1 more hour to go. Chill out

Mr Tim,
most of buyers normally find delivery times and prices of any Products on Official Websites.
Mercedes buyers do not find delivery times and Prices of new models on FORUMS.
Mate keep an eye on my post No7.
Putin would be happy with You.

Buy yourself a Mercedes and have a happy New Year!

It's rather public that the Epic-S is after the Epic-X, and that planned production-start for Epic-X is sometime in february (which can mean until the 28th...). So if you want an indication about an announcement about an announcement, March-NAB is a good indicator, until something is subject to change...

Jiri, chill out mate. 2011 is still so new everybody's still sobering up.

This whole Red thing takes a little getting used to. In some ways (delivery times) the company sucks a little but in other ways (feedback, listening, service, support, giving us access to gear that is years ahead of everything else on the market at prices at a fraction of said competition) this company ROCKS! So either wait for the best kit out there are buy something else now if you must but nobody likes a whinger.

Jiri (and others who may be new to RED):

I think it is important to understand that RED doesn't function much like a typical broadcast or digital cinema camera company in some ways. Some people like that, some people find it incredibly annoying.

For instance, take their method of communication. Rather than occasionally putting out press releases, RED communicates somewhat informally here on the forum. This does offer some benefits - we get information straight from "the horse's mouth" - Jim, Ted, Jarred, Deanan, Graeme, etc. and we get a chance to immediately reply, ask further questions, and make suggestions.

For those that only want to take 5 minutes to read about the newest RED announcements, though, such an arrangement can be something of a pain - they have to read through what may amount to hundreds of posts to seek out individual answers to individual questions. And, ultimately, it may be moot since anything can change at any time, really until the products are in the store ready to purchase.

If you are tired of reading about uncertainties and just want to know when you can own one and how much it will cost, my best suggestion to you is not to bother reading REDUSER, but rather to check the RED Store and/or homepage once or twice a week.

I also imagine that if you read any other boards/lists or follow other industry sites or "friend" or "like" industry professionals on social networks you will know pretty soon after the product page has gone live and hard pricing information is available. People generally talk quite a bit about RED, and I'm sure the release of their various cameras will receive some attention.

Thanks Michael,
that explains a lot.
After almost 28 years in the industry as a freelancer and spending more then $250,000 on cameras alone i find this kind of "marketing" different.
Thanks again mate!

When I woke up in 2011 I expected to see that all 12 of 2010's Playmates of the month had built a hot tub in the living room of my apartment.

Boy was I disappointed when it was only 8.

Now the question is:
What are You going to do with them?

The problem is that the RED Store is rather out of date.

e.g. On the EPIC page
"ALLOWS 1080P TO 5K RECORDING ON CF CARDS"

Well, I think the state of the RED store is something of another issue. I think there are some improvements that could be made.

That being said, though...can't the Epic shoot 1080p to 5K on CF cards if one uses the CF adapter with the SSD module? I imagine it would be framerate and redcode limited, but last I remember, it still does that.
