Failed To Load Construct... (not the path issue)

I have followed this workflow, but am getting the "Failed To Load Construct" error:

1. Clean up FCP timeline. I have removed all motion effects and multiple layers and any effects.
2. Export XML from FCP.
3. Load XML into Crimson (latest build). Matched files.
4. Exported XML in the RedCine tab in Crimson.
5. Load in "cowboy" intermediates into RedCine.
6. Open XML file from Crimson. This is where RedCine fails to open the sequence and displays the message "Failed to load construct."

I did a search on this site and the Crimson site and tried all of the suggestions that were listed and posted on the Crimson wiki to no avail.

(I compared the Crimson XML and XML saved out of Redcine -- the paths were identical.)

The timeline in FCP does contain mixed resolution clips. Is this causing the problem? If so, how do I work around this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

same problem for me...
prefix etc...
but nothing never construct my edit.

also, in fcp, i match frame the source and reconstructed the edit so that the clip in the timeline has the exact same name as the footage it's linking in crimson.. seemed to help out one time, so now i do it everytime...

my fix was adding the prefix in the intermediates tab.. but had to ahve it repeat twice..

So your path prefix is repeated twice? As in "/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/Brandonthomas......" ?

I'm having the same problem as bmd, namely my filename paths seem to be correct in the Crimson-generated XML and in my Redcine project when saved as an XML... So why do I keep getting the 'failed to load construct' error?

Haven't bought Crimson yet, just using the trial version, and so I've limited my FCP sequence to 5 clips. The 5 clips in the below XML are all pointing to the same file, maybe that's a problem? I'm using Crimson 0.9.4S and and Redcine 3.18

I'm pasting my crimson-generated XML here, maybe someone will see something that raises a red flag?

Please help!

If you have figured this badboy out, instructions on how to fix this would be a major help. I am running into the same problem and can't find a fix anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

The ver 3.1.5 of RedCine had:

<slot_name>""</slot_name>
<Clip name="A004_C001_0116SR">
<user>"d316531d-a812-4f52-a028-15df5942fe7d"</user>
.....................................
<scale> 25.000,25.000 </scale>
</Clip>

And the current ver 3.1.8 of RedCine has.

<Slot name="">
<Clip name="A004_C001_0116SR">
<user>"d316531d-a812-4f52-a028-15df5942fe7d"</user>
.............................
<scale> 25.000,25.000 </scale>
</Clip>
</Slot>

With best regards
Priit

So, . . . how does one get the construct to load? Or did I miss something?

Has anyone figured out the fix for this. Its kind of a big deal and makes Crimson worthless. I have already tried everything suggested. It was working for me but with this new version of REDCine Crimson seems to be broken.

Of course the quick solution is just to not upgrade to the new REDCine. If you did and want to go back make sure you trash the preferences first then instal the old version of REDCine. That made Crimson work for me.

Thank you, I know what I have to do too.

Luca,

This build seems to have booting problem.

Hello Ian,

All of the latest. 10.5.6. I'm sending you the system profile.

Won't open here, either. Intel running 10.5.5 2 x 2.8 Quad-Core Xeon.

Immediately gives an error when you try to open Crimson.

Kevin
