I am a huge fan of Tarkovsky style, loooooog dolly + sloooooow super zoom effect.

Yes, Honestly, the longest zoom is 50-1000 on super 35mm sensor...

However, It's not the wide enough to use it in a normal situation.

I have been wondering, why no body makes... Tamron's 16-300

it's about 19x zoom in S35 sensor.

Wow...

Focus, and this long nose is problem when it comes to shooting on this lens.

Online review says, It's not the sharpest lens, but it's useful when it comes 21 mpx. Comparing other super zoom, it's fairly sharp.

So, I just ordered the lens and send it to south korean custom lens company. It will be delivered to my house in one and a half month :)

The Korean custom service store says this.

1. it will be 360 degree focus throw (yayy)

2. It will be internal focusing (yayy - we can use matte box)

3. no more VC...- ugh... would be greatful, but...

4. I can choose any mount I want. (I chose Canon mount)

He didn't talk to me about how long, how heavy the lens will be (Due to it's length, I am expected to see some thing huge and heavy, inefficient one...)

I ordered Canon version with canon adaptor instead of PL for saving extra bucks to use the lens on FF as well. (If' that's the case, 1.4x converter will give me the length of 22.4 - 420 at the aperture of F8 minimum.

Sounds tempting isn't it :)?

I will give you guys some update as soon as they started to process :) - I am asking some photos.

Well, Fujinon has a 99X zoom lens frequently used on live sports events:

My understanding is that the lens costs over $80,000. My understanding is that they only make them for 2/3" TV cameras at the moment, and because of the depth of field issues with full-size 35mm pickups, focus is a pretty big issue with big lenses.

Sometimes, I think what people believe they want may prove to be extremely impractical in the real world, particularly when you look at the insurmountable issues of cost, weight, and so on.

Marc, I still often work with those lenses filming some music... Notice it also opens up to f1.7 and has a x2 extender.

Having the same kind of lens for 35mm sized sensor would mean it could be as big and heavy as a small car..
One of the main reason why it is obvious the 4K TV / live events / sports market will happen on 2/3 sized sensor.

Since it is a stills lens, (and that there are practical limits to lens design) I suspect that it isn't parfocal, making a long zoom through while recording a bit difficult to keep in focus.

It also f-stop ramps as you zoom so that's an issue as well.
