Who deleted my Vaxis Thor 800+ group buy post and why?

There are numerous group buys listed. I have run several very successful group buys and am a valuable contributor to this community.

I was given no warnings, can I get an explanation please? A lot of work went into creating this and managing it.

I want to add that my post followed all the group buy rules.

I spent several days creating this, testing the product and many, many hours with Vaxis and potential GB customers answering questions and providing support. So any info or way moving forward that I can restore the post would be super helpful, thank you! <3

Standby.

This has nothing to do with the Group Buy and everything else to do with various things surrounding this. Looking into it.

Thanks Phil. Everyone else...hopefully we can relaunch the Thor 800+ group buy this week!

Fingers crossed.

Hopefully things get sorted out. Was just about to pull the trugger and ask to be added to the list.

Guys there's some legal stuff going on behind the scenes, specifically regarding sale in the US. It's happening right this second. Don't think this opening up again until it's sorted. Sorry.

I'll go ahead say that I got a very aggressive cease and desist letter from Teradek saying that if I didn't pull this group buy, they were going to sue me into oblivion.

Looks like this thing is dead. Sorry to all. I was given complete and total assurance by Vaxis that their product was FCC compliant and legal in all aspects. I'm very sorry for wasting anyone's time.

Not to belabor the issue but if an individual or even a company had issues with another vendors product or had evidence that a product was being falsely advertised then this would be the best forum to bring it to light. But to eliminate a GB from the list without notifications? Now that's power.

Purely my two cents.

Matt

Guys,

Let me clarify what has happened:

Vaxis recently began selling authentic Amimon chips in their Thor line of devices. These chips are only legally for sale in China as part of their agreement with Amimon. While technically these chipsets have FCC certification, my understanding is that they do not have the proper software (from Amimon) for legal functionality anywhere outside of China. We also have access to these same chipsets, but we too cannot sell them in the United States. That's just the way it is.

So to summaraize, the GB violates both FCC regulations and Amimon's vendor agreement with Vaxis. While Vaxis might assure you their products comply with FCC statutes, they don't.

The Cease and Desist was not meant to be sent, only drawn up. Our legal team thought Travis was importing and facilitating the sale of illegal equipment, but they acted too quickly. Other parties are already dealing with this behind the scenes so the C&D was not appropriate.

I want to apologize on behalf of Teradek for the heavy-handed letter and I regret it was sent out.

I was not personally involved with pulling the GB post. Im not sure how it happened, but since these are technically illegal products for any market outside of China, I imagine that is why someone felt it necessary to pull.

Thanks for the clarification, Mike. I'm going to be the bad guy and ask if there is a similar product/price that can be setup for a GB in place of this. I'm sure a few people are bummed out they didn't get a chance to jump on a "good" deal for a wireless video solution. Hope all goes well with business!

Maybe I'm wrong here, but isn't it the FCC's job to enforce the law and Amimon's job to enforce their vendor agreement with Vaxis? What business would Teradek even have sending a cease and desist to anybody here? I'm not sure your explanation covers everything that needs explaining.

Best for everybody that this was caught before people paid for and / or received gear.

It's too bad this cost a loss of time, energy and enthusiasm on the part of all participants and organizers.

Ouch... Wasn't interested in this GB because I felt like Teradek is a better company, but that's some hardball bad culture on their part.

Kinda odd that Teradek is taking it upon themselves to "police" the competition in regards to the legality of a product. If it truly is illegal in the US, Customs would not release the shipment coming in from China. Why get involved?

As I said in my previous message, the letter was to be drawn up, not sent. There are other matters and agreements in place that are not for public discussion. Sorry guys.

There have been several group buys before this. Seems strange that Teradek would go after Vaxis now.

Afraid of competition?
