  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Why Raven is better for aerial, Raven is only 500 gr. lighter Epic or Scarlet?

I power my Epic through my Helix Jr so for me Raven would actually be only 1.6 Kg thus making ALL the difference between being on the edge of total collapse (The Helix Jr works with the Epic but you can't go crazy with it, i.e. rapid turns or steep angles)

Hey Enrique!

I use the Helix Jr. right now as well, but haven't tried putting a Red on it. I'm considering getting the Raven and powering off of the Jr... could you advise me which package to go with? Base I/O or Jetpack? Thanks so much man!

it's better because it's so much cheaper....

Yup, when you're doing high risk shots (which aerial always is! Even with skilled operators, it is riskier than on land) it is a good thing to have less dollars being risked.

Ok difference in 1,5lbs. but you need to power Raven, if you power it via Redvolt Xl and Scarlet via Side handle the difference will be in 1 lbs. How are you planning to power Raven? V mount and small V mount battery?

Why would you power with XL when you can put on a car battery or even something bigger?

Your comparison is a bit weak. There will come plenty of options to power a raven before anyone even touch it, why look at a rather larger power source and compare with that?

If you look at body mount and power in, then currently for raven that is yet pack plus body, for scarlet that is body + lens mount. I think its easy to see that in such comparison raven wins, the lower framerate and the extra cost does not help scarlet in that comparison. Frame size is the only winner for scarlet and I guess especially for stills. But dragon sensor at a lower cost kind of beats it.

Yes, thank you, so we can power Raven via lipo with jetpack and the total weight with lense would be around 2kg, plus gimbal around 2kg, plus lipo battery around 1,5 kg, so we need copter can carry 5,5- 6 kg.

My big Gryphon will be very happy with much lighter camera like Raven :)
Here it is with Alexa Mini, Ultra Prime 24mm, follow focus, Teradek Bolt and 5kg of LiPo's. AUW~18kg!
