Tell me please guys, everybody talks Raven is lighter and designed for drones and aerial but

1. Raven body - 1600 gr.
2. XL redvolt module - REDVOLT XL Module 450 gr. (Epic better is this case because of small redvolt)
3. XL redvolt - 700 gr. (woud be good to power with only one redvolt not XL redvolt)
In total 2750 gr.

Red Epic (Scarlet)

1. Epic body, 2400 gr (with Pl mount)
2. Redvolt module (side handle), 450 gr
3. Redvolt, 250 gr.
4. Redmag card, 100 gr
In total 3200 gr.

So Raven (because of XL redvolte) is only 500 gr. lighter then Epic and Scarlet.
For big drones as Alta, Foxtech d130, Skyjib 8 is 500 gr. is very small difference.
So is there no reason to think then Raven is better for drones then Epic or Scarlet.
We can talk only about price Raven is 6K, it ia better for fly, less risks, but Scarlet is about 7K too (but Pl mount and 5K)
So wht Raven is better for aerial?

I use small 4s LiPo battery to power Red and gimbal for aerials. This battery I can place anywhere on the drone and it's much easier to balance Red on the gimbal this way.

For few movies I've used rented Scarlet and Dragon but now decided to buy Raven. For MOST cinematographers who know very well their job 4K is more than enough.

Yes, 4K is enough, but the question is why Raven better then Scarlet for aerial (weight almost the same) (but if you find some not ussual way for power Scarlet or Raven as 4s LiPo it is good but you can power and Raven and Scarlet by this way and is it normal actually) Why drone do you use?

New.
Scarlet MX is 9500$ with side SSD, no mount. 4k.
Scarlet Dragon is 16000$ with Side SSD, no mount. 5k.

Raven is Dragon for 5950$ with Side SSD and Mount. 4k.

This speaks for itself I think. It is lighter, cheaper, and has wireless abilities very welcome for drones and gimbals.

Used it's different, but still Raven is better than Scarlet MX. Won't say that for Scarlet Dragon, but also pricier.

Weight almost the same (difference only 500 gr) and for aerial the main thing is weight (only a few drones can lift 5-7kg),
so actually we are talking only about price
But 9500 and 6K is so close and I think you will buy Raven for aerial but if you have already Scarlet or Epic you can fly with it and actually Raven and Scarlet is very close and actually we are talking about 4K MX and 4K Dragon to tell the truth the both are cool for aerial. But the main thing for aerial is weight and the weight is actually almost the same and for drones like Alta, Skyjib 8, Foxtech D130 it is the same weight and you can fly with Raven also like with Scarlet or Epic.

to be completely honest. a friend of mine is getting incredible images with his inspire, and those images will only get better with the release of the raw MFT camera they have coming out. We have flown epics on his big drone, but nothing comes close to the smooth 4k shots hes getting with the inspire.. most aerial shots i need are quick, the inspire cuts together fine with my dragon...

On a plane right now on my way to do an inspire shoot with the x5. The shots will cut with the a camera footage I shot with my dragon. I agree with the above statement.

I power my Epic through my Helix Jr so for me Raven would actually be only 1.6 Kg thus making ALL the difference between being on the edge of total collapse (The Helix Jr works with the Epic but you can't go crazy with it, i.e. rapid turns or steep angles)

How can Scarlet and Raven weight be almost the same!?
Raven ~3.5 lbs (BRAIN with Media Bay and Canon Lens Mount)
Scarlet - 5 lbs (Body only)

Raven is lighter, has new Dragon sensor and 4K at 120fps while Scarlet has max 29.97fps at 4K.

I have big Gryphon X8 octo. There's a few of my shoots in these trailer for new movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDs_DYow7xA

Strange to have the maker of a 4K Camera that shoots RAW (X5R) be an official sponsor of RU :-/

Totally agree.
Inspire + X5 all intergrated package removes most of the problems from the equation, full control on the camera, dead easy operation and great quality footage.
Not to mention the risk to crash a Dragon in the forest....lol

For those of you saying the Inspire cuts nicely with dragon, are you suggesting shots at 6k with lowest compression on epic dragon will cut together seemlessly in the same shoot location? If so, do you have any examples of this? Seems hard to believe.

If you
Pixel peep them, sure, you can tell. But for my purposes, which is making compelling shots and telling good stories, then it works fine. I have heard, "great shot" a bunch. No one has said, "
Ew, the highlight roll off is inferior to the last shot. "

Ok difference in 1,5lbs. but you need to power Raven, if you power it via Redvolt Xl and Scarlet via Side handle the difference will be in 1 lbs. How are you planning to power Raven? V mount and small V mount battery?
