Who ordered EPIC stage 2? Let's try and count?

[Harcharan Singh]

Congrats to you also Scott....Jan 2009 to Sept 2009 for STAGE II in 2 days..they are churning out EPICs in numbers now...STAGE III will also be close now..

Just wondering for STAGE II if my R1 is already MXed do I get a further discount of USD1250 on the STAGE II package?
Any STAGE II guy who has taken delivery and has an R1 Mxed earlier can chip in for this question???

Thanks
Harcharan

[Scott Miller]

AFAIK there is a $1250 discount on your StgII if you MX'd your R1. I do not recall if there were any cutoff periods though.

[Stacey Spears]

The MX discount should show up on your invoice.

I think we're all on the same page. My original point was just that the serial number of the Epic X is nice to know because it gives us a decent (not exact) indication of the total number of units manufactured. My guess is that its within a hundred or two of the highest current serial number (e.g. - Epic X sn# 1000 means we can probably safely assume that at least 800 cameras have been manufactured).

I'd say that's a fair assumption. As for how they seem to roll out the numbers, that's anyone's guess. I haven't been able to identify any pattern or logic to it with EPIC-M or EPIC-X. With the RED One it was pretty cut and dry, they just rolled out mostly in order -- seemed to be assigned based on when the camera was invoiced.

I just personally don't think they're randomly choosing the serial numbers - even though I agree the serials are not an exact indication, but then again its all just a guessing game until we each receive our camera.

I don't think it's random either. I'm sure there's a method to the madness and probably for a good reason. I think what I'm more curious about, since the numbers roll out the way they do, is why RED didn't use more abstract serial numbering -- as they do on all the other accessories? Why do we need such identifiable numbers on the brains themselves? Or perhaps this is to keep them more identifiable and even viewed as "special" by the community. When it comes to internal tracking of cameras and tracking cameras via R3D clips, the "real" serial number is the camera "PIN".

AFAIK there is a $1250 discount on your StgII if you MX'd your R1. I do not recall if there were any cutoff periods though.

Still active, I asked about this for a camera just recently. You get the credit off your Stage-2 invoice if you have MX'd your camera already. They are still doing MX upgrades and If you MX your RED One after the fact (after receiving your Stage-2 EPIC), they credit your MX upgrade invoice the with difference.
