  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who ordered EPIC stage 2? Let's try and count?

Awesome! Does that mean they are into the Jan., 2008 R1 deliveries now?

I got my RED222 January 12th, exactly on my 50th birthday, it was Brent, if I remember well, who made everything, to deliver my RED just in time ;-) These were the old days... Still great full...

I am anxious to know, how long is red allowing to pay the balance for the camera? I had better start saving my bottles and aluminum cans.

Email says you have 30 days to pay from when your Epic is ready to ship.

is the yellow color initial email? are they really prepping up to 600??

Two things, Stage 2 are delivered according to date of delivery of your R1, so not necessarily in the order of serial number, and most importantly, we don't know how many people have opted for stage 2, so I have R1 #500, but I may be getting Epic-X #200. In any case, Red are definiitly ramping up production, they are fast learners, they know there are many orders pending, customers waiting, they "just" need to get these babies out. So if people up to around Red One serial #600 are getting e-mails, we don't know yet how many Epics that makes. I'll post my serial # when I get mine.

Cheers,
Damien

#00083 is in the house.

Greg those just look so cool, with the same serial numbers...great picts...thanks for posting

my guess is that if you received your Epic with the same serial number as your RED One, either every one before you also was stage 2 or RED is giving the same serial number as the original RED serial number to the stage 2 EPICS.... We will find out soon enough, as we know RED #86 is definitely stage 3, so when someone receives and posts their Epic serial number after number 86, we will know...Basically if Mark A, RED One #89, let's us know his EPIC # we will know...

At some point it's not going to be feasible any longer, but I hope they are able to do it for as many cameras as possible. My RED ONE serial has such significance to me on more than the obvious levels, and I'm sure it's the same for others as well.

So far we have seen quite a few matching numbers... what an unexpected treat.

EPIX X

EPIX X

Today... an EPIC-X gets assembled by an 8 person team in 13 minutes with a 96% "no re-work" percentage. And we are just getting started.

From Jim's 'Made in USA' thread in RECON.

THAT SHOULD BE AROUND 84 EPIC X PER DAY (7HRS WORKING) WITH THREE 8 MEMBER TEAMS(JUST A WILD GUESS)
(TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT 15 MINS PER EPIC X WITH ONE 8 MEMBER TEAM)

ie 420 EPIC X per week with 5 working days.....If this is correct then STAGE II should cover up in no time..maybe September end....

Harcharan:w00t:

Hey Harcharan.. sorry to break the bad news to you but assembly is not the end of the road. Testing, testing, and more testing comes after assembly. Every camera is tested with every module, functionality tests, recording tests, burn in, then packaging etc. etc.

Just wanna keep things realistic here...

Thanks for the update....maybe 50% of the projection should be a realistic figure....That will also be great...but I think you must be having a different testing team other than the 8 member team.

heh heh heh.. Harcharan I'm sure nobody here would like it very much if we only tested each of your cameras for 13 minutes...

Here is a hint... Burn in alone is counted in hours, not minutes.

I think it's better not to speculate and put assumptions or expectations in people's minds and just let things happen as they may. We will all hear about the cameras that do ship, I have no doubt about that. :)

That is hilarious! I agree with you, but it's like handing a kid a choclate bar and ripping it out of their hands before the first bite.

Reduser is SPECULATION, assumption, and expectations (especially since they have absorbed all the Scarlet users as well. :)

One step at a time, e-mail, order, payment delivery. This is week three of new assembly line, systems are just being ironed out.

I agree with you, but there is enthusiastic discussion about an upcoming product and then there is just rampant speculation about things that people have no clue about. The forums seem to have taken a sharp turn in that direction lately, especially in regards to things like Scarlet, and while some people may find the endless musing fun, I don't think it's helpful for those who come here to get actual answers to questions. A lot of good information just gets buried in the rubble. This isn't all in response to Harcharan, of course... his post was just the one I replied to. Anyway, maybe I'm just thinking as someone who wants to keep things organized and useful, but I can see how it could be frustrating for RED as well. We will obviously see how many cameras they're putting out a month... in a month. :)

I am so with you.

Check out the posts I recently deleted and you will see that I share your sentiments exactly.
