  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I voted January while hoping August. Head trumps heart unless the Ultra 20 SWAT team can smash the bug.
 
Yes. . . all of you silly, silly folks with your early (hopeful) guesses. :-)

My January 2011 may prove to be optimistic, but I'm sticking with it for now. Epic will be a huge hit in the pro market, of course, but I do wonder about the viability of Scarlet in a Canon-dominated world. Just glad we've got an M-Xed RED One. Love it!

Software developers spend most of their lives with buggy, broken software. Then they work out what's wrong and suddenly, after months of frustration, it's fixed - and they're doing aeroplanes around the office. The bug could take days or months. They'll only know once they've fixed it. I'm sticking with my August prediction (hope). What elese have I got?
 
I now change my vote to end of Dec for the first few Stage 2s, with the first few hundred in the Januar-Feb timeframe, in time for a healthy Epic-only demo reel come NAB 2011
 
Although actually I genuinely hope Stage 2 isnt until Feb 2011, that'd be perfect timing for me personally.
 
I'm still thinking september, but now the end of rather than the beginning. Probably October when they really start shipping and I bet it takes through the end of the year to ship most of the Stage-2 orders.

I guess we'll see what happens. I wish they started shipping yesterday, but I also want them to get it 100% right, even if it does take until next year.

I'm sure everyone at RED (who are busting their balls to kill the "bug") love to hear how clever people are who guessed that there will be a delay in delivering Epic!! :thumbsup:

Maybe I'm off base here but it just seems a little insensitive especially after Jim specifically asked for our support.

Tom, I think you give us too much credit. My guess is that no one from RED is even aware of this thread. I would further guess all you would see if you looked in the window at RED industrial is buttcracks and elbows. (Pardon my feeble attempt to lighten the mood.)

Gunleik it certainly is a fun bit of conjecture/guessing its just now that we have had a very open and candid update from Jim and it was bad news for him, his team and us, this thread (for me) turned a little sour. But as I said in my original post - I'm probably way off base here, so carry on carrying on :)

I'm hoping your right- I voted for October. Even with the delay- I'm hoping it will get sorted out ASAP. It seems that Team Red wants to get it out the door sooner rather then later ...
