Hi All,

I finally finished building my Leica R set which took me over 8months to meticulously collect the right lenses(late serial#, summilux, macro, etc...) in pristine condition then "cinevized" them and really pleased with this set.

I am now interested in building a Zeiss Jena set after reading the work Dan Sasaki did for Mihai Malaimare where the Jenas were Panavised for The Master.

I don't know much about these lenses or its characteristics and was wondering if anyone had a set or point me in the right direction as to what lenses to look for (year, serial numbers, mount, etc...)

Much appreciated :-)

Cheers

Yes indeed :-) If only I can build another set with Zeiss Jena or Canon FD!

That is a gorgeous set of Leica R's, Jean!! I see you are using Allstar A-mount...great idea. Looks like your 180 has been modified to a Nikon mount, since you have the Nikon F A-mount adapter on it?

duclos did the pl mount as well? how much was that per lens?
im also interested in the jena line and dont know where to start, i wish we had more details on which ones he actually used for the film.

Those are not PL mounts...they are the Allstar A-Mount adapters for Leica R...they cost $190 each (plus you need an A-Mount on your camera).

really, they look like PL to me, whats the difference? can they only go on Allstar mounted cameras?

but then you can only use the lenses on a camera that has the allstar mount? so the same camera for every job? i would go with something more universal i guess. they still look like pl to me, whats the difference?

Very nice Jean. You're missing the 60mm though :)

Yeah... am happy with my 50mm 1.4 and 80mm 1.4 and havent needed macro in that range yet but will definitely add it in my auxiliary lens later which will also include the 90mm 2.0 & super-angulon 28mm f/2.8 tilt-shift. Are you a fan of the 60mm?

135mm was $600 from my leica ebay dealer George Ohara (leicagreatbuy) who has a lot of great leica r lenses and was able to buy from him directly at a discount and the 180mm was from a photographer on getdpi forum for $700.

The 28mm will be added on at some point.

you're missing the 28mm as well.

How much were the 135mm and 180mm?

Yes, the Allstar has been great and my nikons are also adapted and ready to use. I bought the 180mm from a nikon photographer who had already swapped the mount to nikon and I just kept it.

If you have many different lenses from different brands, you can either buy a a different camera mount for each brand, or buy A mounts for all the different lenses. Yes they look like PL but they are not.

Here is a thread that explain the Allstar mount:
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?89268-Allstar-A-mount-system-introduction

and yes the camera also has to be fitted with the Allstar mount. I have one for my MX and Epic, but they make a Sony E, Alexa, 4/3 Mount, Sony FZ, etc...
