  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Where in line are we and how manmy ordered?

Guys there is no reason to panic. Remember that nice picture of Jarred's with scarlets on the production line? Even if only a hand full of cameras went out does not mean that they won't on Dec 1st. No one was promised one before dec 1. It's likely that if they had intended to send a bunch more out they held off because of some minor tweaking in the firmware, but it's clear that the production line is rolling!!!

I think a lot of us are in the same boat... I may not have to cancel after the new year, but waiting until 2012 would pretty much negate the advantage of ordering before the price increase, seeing as I'd have to pay taxes on the money I'm holding onto for Scarlet.

Yeah, I wish it would just be this year, I'm just saying I'm not pressuring RED, just that it is kind of screwed up to get online on Nov 3rd and act like these are almost ready and we haven't heard anything about what is going on. The common response is RED is overwhelmed, but they would be less overwhelmed with questions and negative forum posts if they would just figure out and let us know some deadlines and dates. Part of me thinks it isn't near ready so if they gave us realistic dates they know we would just leave. That is not me. I just want to know for future financial planning over the next few months.

What picture? I must have missed that one. Which thread is it? Thanks.

Fiscal and project concerns are very understandable if the shipping will be delayed, I really appreciate that, but did I miss something?
PL mount aside. We were told December 1st shipping would start, weren't we? That's still over a week away. Isn't it? So why does everyone assume anything has changed and for the worst? Has someone been told there will be significant shipping delays and I have missed it?

We all know there may be delays with a Scarlet and clearly significant delays would be difficult for some people to handle, and fair enough,
but surely sanity dictates we should actually at least wait until those delays are happening before we get too fearful or distressed about it?

Expect the best. Plan for the worst. Dib dib, dob dob and all that...

Ahh beat me to the punch. I'm just too slow a poster! :)

What was said is Nov 17th the PL mount Scarlets starts shipping and Dec 1st was for the AL mount. I think we all know we shouldn't expect AL mount Scarlets on Dec 1st, but it was in fact stated the TI PL mounts would start shipping in limited quantities on Nov 17th. If 1 camera was sent to Tonaci (which is all we have knowledge of so far) this doesn't really count IMHO of limited quantities, but whatever. It would just be nice to hear from RED with some updates, as they know we are all waiting.

Yet there were probably more cameras that went out; Tonaci is just the only one posting and even he hasn't been able to get much out there yet! So, these are likely to trickle out until Dec 1st - and even then, it's just the start of shipping for the canon mount; did anyone really expect them to finish thousands of Scarlets in just one month?

I figure that. Again, I'm not complaining , but just trying to find the reasoning that RED hasn't gotten in the forums and answered a single question about ship dates since Nov 17th? Jarred and Brent have literally been asked directly in forum posts and they chose to answer other questions instead. Oh well, it'll come when it comes. I guess i just do things differently with business where the clients questions are answered immediately, or if there is no answer, I respond without ignoring them.

I just am dumbfounded why a simple statement isn't ironed out that says "estimated shipping dates" which is completely updated with no responses allowed. It should be the first post of the day, everyday for products that are on known backorder. As soon as a delivery date changes and/or is not met, then a simple update to the forum post would suffice. Obviously since RED is behind schedule on a few things, this would stop the bugging and would still bring people to the forum to check posts.

Brent had also said those higher up will receive a bulk email with details on payment etc some time this week. Let's wait for it.

look at this thread, you understand why there is little communication.... They are slammed!!! If you ordered, just be glad this camera is NOT 3k for 3k, there would be 100,000 orders by now!

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?67332-Not-much-communication-from-RED/page2

Look, we all know RED is slammed, but Jarred obviously knows some answers to these questions about shipping right? I would assume Brent does as well. These guys are in the forums where the questions are answered and not responding with estimates, etc but answering other questions right next to those. Whatever I've already wasted enough time talking about this. It just makes simple logical sense to get everyone off of their backs to answer a few simple one's but whatever, I'll wait and see what happens. Possibly they just want to surprise us!!

In brent's words

In the time it took to write this statement it could have simply said, "Scarlet X orders are definitely being shipped out" A few more seconds of time and a lot less headaches and reading of PMs I'm sure to get everyone off their backs. Again, I can't imagine what to think their schedules are like, but they are on here, in the posts and responding to some, so there is obviously time for some responses. Not everyones, but again a good STICKY post update with scheduled and backordered products would just be nice and efficient. Thats' all.

Probably because the answer is: "no update, still on track for december 1st... calm down..."

...and if the answer is anything else they'll have to answer to that; and if they are running late, what could they possibly say? "Hey guys, don't know when we'll start shipping them canon mounts... sorry!" - I mean, people will just post pleading for more information either way. So, the best thing to do (for RED) is wait and communicate when they have something worth communicating -- that'll be on or around Dec 1st. Ahh, the joys of high-end business, no matter what you do, you're in the wrong somehow :-)

I know it's hard to find answer as there is so many threads to look, so I can understand your frustration. I'd suggest two options here. Click on Brent@red name and view all post, he really has responded a lot. Also do the same for Jarred.

Another of the great ones to look at is http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?67092-Order-and-Payment-Unofficial-FAQ

It also answers a lot of questions. Hope this helps and you scarlet is high up on the list!

best!

Lets hope, and it may not seem like it from my posts, but I'm actually very calm. I have plenty of cams to shoot with until then. I guess all I was saying is simple answers to simple questions would shut everyone up. I'm cool if my Scarlet comes into next year. Again, just so this is clear, all I'm stating is that a Sticky post at the top of the Scarlet section that is updated when new info is available would help. If a date passes then RED should update with a new date. That simple; that's all.

Anyhow, I'm already buying my gear to get ready for it. BTW, I just received the 5 inch touch the other day and it is super well made. I thought my Small HD DP6 was well made until I saw this thing. It is literally built like a tank.
