  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Where did the Changes thread go?

Obviously the "changes" thread got a lot of attention. I think it was at 20,xxxx views when somebody took their ball and went home.

So the real question with so many people on the site now, today, this minute, what do you think would happen if X and Scarlet were announced sometime today? Could the order servers even handle the load? Could Red.com even handle the load?

Does anyone know if you have to "register" to buy something first? Maybe the lanyard is a good test purchase to make sure I can order quickly if needed...
 
We all know Jim and his impulsive excitement over the Red matters.
He wants X to be out as much as we want it in.
something's cooking, but patience will be rewarded.
Overhype can be disappointing...

Sorry could not resist. I realize it was a bad joke, and that redusera my be a bit on edge, especially today. Yes it was a joke. I did see the post last night right after Jim posted. You know when he does stuff like that, there is something massive to follow. Hope it's bigger then pre-order (like buy your scarlet now), but would be extremely happy with place you order get you camera this year.
 
No idea how long that page has been there. Mostly looks like a place holder. So I am guessing that it's been there awhile. Apple nerds (myself included) play around with the URLs of existing Apple products (in this case link for Epic) and then just swap out "scarlet" for "epic" to see if there are even pages there. But putting up placeholder pages is common so you can keep your links working.

But yes, was secretly hoping there would be something there to order.... ;)
 
Was there actually some content in the original thread that's got everyone all worked up, or is it all just conspiracy?

Jim posted something along the lines of things change, and a tsunami was coming.

And the only other person from RED was Jared and he just went "he he he"
 
Ah, got it. Thanks man. Not a completely uncommon occurrence around here, but always kind of fun when it happens.

Jeffrey has the right of it. Jim said that we had no idea how succinct his tagline "...everything is subject to change..." is and that something big was coming. Jared gave us the "heh heh heh..." and then there were tens of thousands of views and gobs of speculation.

My vote is still for the vacuum cleaner line.
 
The word "heh" in triplicate has caused more calamity on this board than any other word. I'm kind of bummed I missed it all this go around :)
 
Dragon is actually closer then we all thought it would be...
The FPS on it is crazy, 5K @ 300fps
2K @ 1000 FPS
9K @ 120fps


The DR is crazy and HDRX goes further then ever before
The new RED Lenses for the FF is even better then the current line, lighter, faster and smaller
oh and Scarlet gets high FPS as well as a boost in features
The removable is on track and right behind the fixed

The next gen EPICs are even more light weight


Heh, one can dream...
 
Well, for what it's worth, I've always taken these kinds of posts to be general statements of excitement about the entire program rather than specific hints about any particular product. The But that's just me.
