Looks like it was taken down, or something. All threads are closed. What's the story?

I was wondering the same -- Interested to see how all the tech was utilized.

The Internet is a scary place. I learned a lot from Ketch's experience on what to do and what not to do and the ugly power of viral notoriety. He himself admitted to a few mistakes, but my heart definitely goes out to the guy for the reactions he had to face. I think a sort of perfect storm got created by a combination of his high profile on reduser (11,000+ posts), the fact that it was shot on Dragon, the fact that he had the support of Red, and definitely by the perceived tone from several of his answers. There is a reason why humbleness, even of the fake variety, is highly praised trait in this industry. I also know that this american-style humbleness and down-to-earth-ness as practiced by many in the film industry (think of Tom Hanks as an ideal) sometimes clashes completely with other cultures. I think Ketch's nitroglycerine enthusiasm got mis-perceived by many people who don't know him from this forum.

Here are some of the deleted comments. Please read them with a proper understanding and context. I myself have found myself at the center of a few sh*t storms, but nothing on this scale. The bottom line I think is that one has to be very careful of what one writes and posts on these forums.

Wow.... That was a fascinating read. While I wasn't a fan of the short film either, I don't think Ketch deserved the storm of nasty comments. Yikes.

Lets just say nothing ever truly dies on the internet.
I won't place the link but the cached button on google search can work untold magic.

Oh, Reddit... SRS brigade at full force. I just knew those idiots will jump right at it labeling the guy misogynist, chauvinist or [insert any "feminazi" buzzword] etc. Ketch's attempt was obviously very rushed, incomplete, poorly planned and overall unfortunate. I can never see how would you even try to deal with sensitive subjects like that in short form. Or in feature form, for that matter, if you're not delicate enough. Don't even think about making "art film" with domestic violence themes in it, good forbid. Otherwise they will destroy you. Even if your intentions are pure and you mean well.

You know what was truly in poor taste in that deleted thread? Making fun of the female models, letting out offensive remarks about their looks and background, even though Ketch wrote in the beginning of that thread - "if you want to blame, blame me, not the cast or the crew".

Looks like it was taken down, or something. All threads are closed. What's the story?

The short was done with a serious reasoning in mind and for a very important reason, one that superseded any desire to shoot a Fashion Film of pretty half naked women just to show off the DRAGON sensor with skin, yet I failed miserable at it, but my intentions were good, and despite all, good is coming from it, nothing I am wiling to share at this time of course, after such experience.

Any ways, the thread it self was deleted by me, not because I was worried of the critiques, as I knew they were to come, for more then one reason, yet I was not afraid of it, I had no problem in showing you by worst, in life I have learned that you can not always just show your best, and that you should admit when you make a mistake, and I did, but what I was not willing to take is INSULTS, and attacks to Cast members.

Additionally my health already in serious jeopardy took a serious hit, and the stress brought upon me by the way the thread turned out, did give me a really bad blow, one I surely did not expected form my fellow Reduser, of course TROLLS were just having a FEAST on me, and I should have known better.

At the end, this is a fantastic community, but I would have thought that critiques would have come with never disrespecting any one, instead it was a french of insults and attacks and that I will not stand for.

Any were else on the internet they can do what ever they want, and say what ever they want, I do not mind and do not care, but this is my HOME.

People can think what ever they want, I did the best I could under the circumstances, yet Jarred and every one else's knew I was not happy at all with the final results, but felt an obligation to show it just the same, unafraid of any negative critiques, and so I did showed.

The piece is been used to pitch the Motion Picture, and people can think and say anything they want, fact remains that I have absolutely no problem in admitting when I am wrong or I made a mistake, and fact remains that there are infinite ways in to which that very same material can be twisted and re-edited and re-graded with time and effort not available before, and create completely different fillings and story, and that is exactly what is in the works, together with a international organization against violence to women.

If any one thinks, that was all that I am really capable to do, then good on them, but they have no idea how wrong they are!!

If any one thinks that I'll hide in a corner and do nothing else, or go back to make pizzas, then they really have no idea how wrong they are!!

I was wrong in showing a piece I myself did not like.

I was wrong on letting it play out in his unfinished and unpolished form.

I was wrong in thinking I was obligated to show it, against my own good, just because of every one FREE time involved in it.

I was wrong in so many ways it is not even funny.

But on matter what, I am still a MAN of absolute INTEGRITY, and deep RESPECT for every one, and I surely will not stand to be disrespected and insulated by any one, and that was the sonly reason it was removed form this forum and tooled down from my YouTubeChannel, and again the the rest of the net does not matter to me, I can not control what people say or do, neither do I care, I have bigger worries then to think about what others have to say about me or my work.

But I did care of what was been said here, a place were I have spent a good time of the past 7 years, and have very many friends, colleagues I worked with, and people I deeply respect, and was not acceptable to leave that thread here to be used as a platform for them to insult me and my cast or crew.

One thing for sure was a benefit to me, is that I LEARNED a very BIG lesson, which is that YOU NEVER under NO CIRCUMSTANCES show your work that yourself deem unfit for viewing to any one, as they will take "IT" and you apart for all that is wrong, and they will be so blinded by it, that there will be little to no space left to give any real Positive critiques about...

At only exception of course for those that really do know you and what you intended and know the Art, and really do know what it takes to admit you are wrong and yet submit yourself to the open judgments of other professionals, and do so openly without fear, ready to take it al in, and show that courage also comes form letting others see that even you can do wrong and that even you can have bad days...

NO ONE IS PERFECT!!

My drive is as strong as ever, and especially now after recent "VERY BAD" medical news, and what happened with that thread, was a EYE opener, and a pusher to do ever better, and always remember to never show your WORK, unless you in the first place think is the absolute BEST you can do, and no matter of any circumstances in the shooting of, if it is no good to you, it will be most certainly no good to any one else, so "BETTER TRASH IT" then showed.

At the end of the day, that too was a valuable lesson in life, even so it could not have come at a worst time.

Thanks again to every one, for their interest, and sorry again I failed you all in so many ways... And while I can not promise I will not fail you again, what I can promise is that it will be much more unlikely to happen again.

LASTLY: The reason I also closed all other threads, including my Epic M owners thread, is because a new chapter is coming, and I felt was important to close off those threads, and start fresh, especially after recent events, some which have absolutely nothing to do with the deleted thread or the shoot and the reaction themselves.

But because of my health: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?107755-A-new-chapter-or-my-last-one

Hope this thread dies, gets deleted, or locked. If you have something to ask or say to Ketch re: The Red Dress, PM him.

Few have constructively contributed as much to our community as he has.

Recognize.

Never saw the film but Ketch has been a helpful and positive presence on RU. Ketch, keep doing your thing!

I don't think any film is ever really finished and very few achieve perfection. I certainly never have.

Many of us identify with this so we understand that it takes courage to make our efforts public. It can be difficult but we need to remember this when offering criticism and that can be particularly difficult for those of us with good intentions and high personal standards.

In the small amount that I did read of that thread it was evident to me that not everyone's intentions were noble. Much of it was deplorable, an embarrassment to us all IMHO. I hope we can learn from the thread by revisiting it but let us please not re-hash it.

I was looking for it as well.
Missed all the drama apparently.

Not sure what went wrong but it seems the only issue was that people did not like it?

Nobody makes amazing work all the time, it happens.
Nothing to feel so bad about Ketch, seems like it hit you way harder than it should have.
Hope you are doing better.

Since I followed the behind the scenes from day 1 I'd still be very happy to see it.

There were comments on that thread that were respectful and helpful, especially the one from Meryem. Shame others couldn't read it. Ketch couldn't take honest criticism from someone who was rational and a well respected member of the community.

Good leaders often praise in public and offer criticism in private. In internet forums one doesn't have the benefit of looking at gestures and non verbal communication. English is also not the first language of all. So comments, even if meant well, can be misconstrued and wound a person badly.

In the previous thread, except for a few posts, others had stinging remarks meant to hurt. It is good that the thread was deleted.

There is very less 4K content available now. There are many good artists here in this forum. Why not get together and create some good stuff? I am sure Jim and Jarred will encourage you all if your intent is good. Do good stuff and make this a great forum, a must visit place for everybody. Please don't hit out at each other and fill this place with negative energy.

Ketch, I really appreciate that response.
I'm sure everyone is aware that when you create a high-profile project, any legitimate criticism is fair game. Attacking someone's character is generally not good, though.
Matt Fleming, no one has said anything remotely inappropriate thus far in this thread. Hell, I wouldn't even say anyone's offered anything more than a vague opinion, so why the need to lock or delete this thread?

Exactly. Very well put.

If that had been a feature instead of a short then it would've been the next "Miami Connection", just with rape instead of Tae Kwon Do. So my comment of making a short film that could achieve midnight movie greatness if it was longer isn't taken wrong... I love "Miami Connection".
