For years now, you could see it happening: Instagram is no longer about photography. Or, for that matter, cinematography. It's basically a bloated blogging platform where almost every account is either about cat videos or motivational speakers. And then you have channels, stories and reels, and goodness knows what else I haven't seen yet.
I have nothing against either cats or motivational speeches by Steve Harvey. But... I often wonder why I am even on that platform anymore. I guess it's something to do to pass some time? And if so, man, I am obviously not busy enough.
Maybe there's room for a cleaner, more focused platform? I don't know. But it's no replacement for what Vine was, that's for sure. In fact I joined Instagram precisely because after Vine died, all the people I followed went there. I'm looking forward to Vine's return, if it happens, but Vine isn't a photography platform.
