  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What do you plan on shooting with FIXED Scarlet ?

I don't recall Jim or anyone saying that they would do in-camera RAW-to-RAW downscaling. In fact, in the past, they've explicitly said the opposite, mainly because of the difficulties in doing a good RAW-to-RAW downscaling.

I believe they said the Scarlet camera would have a 1080P RGB option that used some sort of Redcode-type compression.

New to the forum, but excited to be here.

Debating whether to wait for the full frame Scarlet, but either way will use it for making commercials and short films.

I´m going to shot a special concert, i just prey to the RED gods that the camera will be availble and shipping before August, since it´s quite a big chance that the concert will be the last, ever, for the band.

...and... well, just ordinary things like common day life... maybe a documentary or two. I´m just excited to be a part of the RE(D)volution when it begins :)

I thought likewise, but it seems Ted S mentioned that Redcode would now be used to store the 1080p/720p. This was in a scarlet user podcast after the Nov. announcement; has many excited.

I will use the scarlet for daily stuff, smaler green screen works, docs and business movies. But althoug for commercials an some independent stuff. The 2/3 isn't realy a problem. Most of Slumdog Millionar was shot on a 2/3"-camera, the SI2k and it looks quit good for me. We produced a short-feature with the Si2k and got quiet good results. At the moment the film will be shown on festivals around the world. So 2/3" is absoult enough for the beginning an later we still can buy a S35-brain.

Hopefully I'll use 2 of them strapped together as a 3D camera. Fingers crossed the fixed 2/3" version makes this easy with the requisite electronics that are needed to control interocular distance and convergence on a single baseplate whilst also allowing for synced shooting and lens control, along with distance/convergence automatic control depending on where you put the follow focus.

Cheers,

Paul

Would you be able to drive both lenses with one follow focus ?
