Figuring out workflows for Epic-W, but this applies to everything.

I'm curious what folks are using for data management and file transfers? I had success with R3D Data Manager in the past, but it looks like that company isn't around anymore.

Something with checksums is important.

For commercially available tools:
- Pomfort Silverstack
- Shotput Pro
- YoYotta ID

Otherwise, you can roll your own but most non-DITs would prefer an easy interface.

Gunleik also has a solution called GAMP

I used Magic Bullet OFFLOAD, though will move back to Shotput or SilverStack soon. I dig offload and it's lack of options (perfect for making sure data is safe), but sometimes it takes soooooo long because of its verification. I think the others can do the same quality verification but faster now.

Silverstack.

if your on a mac there is Hedge
https://hedgeformac.com

I used to use R3Data manager too, but now use Hedge. The non free version is great and really fast too. When I bought it was about $50, well worth it in my opinion.

DoubleData is from the same people as R3Data. I am not sure they are around anymore. I have this software too but there have not been any program updates in a very long time.

I also have Offload. Its very simple with a great graphic interface, but its by far the slowest copy software I have.

I looked at Silverstack but, unless you are a professional DIT, a $400 or $600 per year subscription is kind of steep.

I have both DoubleDuty and Offload and use them both. DoubleDuty is, as has been mentioned, from the makers of R3D Data Manager and, while it is true it hasn't been updated in a very long time, it does seem to function just fine.

And, I agree that Offload seems kind of slow. Plus, it has crashed on me a few times for no obvious reason. Never lost any data but just to be careful, I'd usually start the download over, which costs additional time. If I was only allowed to keep one of these two I'd probably stick with DoubleData. Then again, I will probably look at some of the other recommendations in this thread.

Ended up purchasing and using Hedge with great results. Fast and simple.

I am definitely going to look into Hedge insofar as Offload seems very slow and DoubeData not that much faster.

I had forgotten about Mikael's catalog software - it is indeed very helpful and I think I will start to integrate that into my workflow!!

I am enjoying HEDGE for mac, I like shot put pro but HEDGE transfer is quicker

Davinci Resolve has a built in checksum option. Super basic but does the job. Been offloading to multiple hard drives at once and has never let me down.

Its also free which is nice.
