  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Welcome Kyle to the RED ASYLUM...

Believe it or not, Tim, some RED buyers (perhaps we should be more properly classified as "orderers" at this point?) ARE conservative, right-wing, second amendment types. :-)

Stephen, I think Tim understands... Andreas is the angels advocate in this discussion.

Weapons that kill children, women and american soldiers for example? Unless you like the thought of that, your post doesn't make any sense. These things are not made to look cool in movies, these things are made to kill people not companies. Making smart choices kills other companies.

Last time I check RED wasn't in the movie business per se, because they don't make movies, they supply hardware. Hardware that could be used for medical, commercial or other businesses outside of the "movie business".

The movie industry is quite often depicting people killing each other... haven't you noticed? Hence RED is right on point being a camera company and showing weapons that kill... lol. Next time perhaps someone can do a depiction of Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock with a .50 caliber machine gun being used as a sniper rifle in Vietnam.

Did something get lost in translation?

Damn what did we start here?!

You guys have special forces in Switzerland? What were you... like a guard at the Vatican or something

Yes we do have special forces like all armed forces do. We do joint training with other units like SAS, KSK, Delta etc. So much for the clarification.

Most countries have an army. We are an army

I don't know, perhaps it did.
I kinda thought that you tried to justify it with:
"The movie industry is quite often depicting people killing each other... haven't you noticed?"

And RED is doing the right thing showing weapons here:
"Hence RED is right on point being a camera company and showing weapons that kill... lol."

And cheered the testosterone race on with the:
"Next time perhaps someone can do a depiction of Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock with a .50 caliber machine gun being used as a sniper rifle in Vietnam."

Perhaps you where ironic and and I didn't catch that. My bad in that case.
It's really not about the weapon, if its fake or real or the weapon itself. It's about making smart business choices. There are countries out there where weapons don't fly well, and that don't live by the second amendment. These individuals could feel less for the products and in the long run, the RED brand could suffer. (Because when the competition in this market segment begins, and trust me it will. It's all about the brand)

I'm not a stiff guy, for me this is all about branding and they way I see it, they could still do cool stuff but be smart about what they put out there. Babes and guns attract seventeen year olds... And excludes a bigger market.

Problem solved..

LOL.. I was thinking the same thing... but dreaded the extraction work in photoshop. Perhaps I'll do a tutu version with the RED team accompanying the musical.

This thread just goes to prove one thing.... Reduser.net is also part of the asylum! (Anyone seen Jack Nicholson? He was wandering doun the halls just a minute ago, looking for the Chief)

looks like this post needs some adult supervision.

It makes me very, very sad, when people try and take something out of context, something fun and light and try to piss all over it just because they can. Its happened here before. And I dont like it.

Lighten up people... It's a photo. In case you havn't noticed, A bit of RED's soul is military. If you dont like it, fine, but dont come in and start crying about social/political bullshit. This is not the place.

If your the kinda person that gets scared when you see stuff like this, this isnt the place for you.

I think the photographer just peed their pants a little.

heh heh that would be me.. and yes, i did pee a little. But its ok. I cried and moved on.

We ARE at WAR! At WAR with conventional thinking...

I love talking about social/political stuff, but I know it isn't appreciated here so I try to avoid it as much as possible.

BTW, I can't wait to see some behind-the-scenes videos from Red.

The pic definitely looks like you're at war but war with conventional thinking definitely doesn't come across in that pic. Just looks like some mean sob with a gun.
