  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Weapon 8k Queue

I am in the queue for the VV upgrade but so far have not been upgraded to the temporary helium sensor. Is any one else in the same position or do you think my order has somehow been overlooked?

I have got a woven with a pretty early upgrade time stamp not upgraded.. I think due to logistical challenges there may be regional differences?

Thanks for the reply. Jarred implied that my Helium upgrade may be imminent about 5 months ago and with Helium now being out of backorder I was beginning to think my order had fallen through the cracks. Good to hear that others are still in the same position. I didn't order until the last day of the offer so probably shouldn't hold my breath based on your early order. Also in the UK.

My camera is now shipped for upgrade right now, so RED means business when they "schedule" your brain - they seems to really be cranking.

I just got my "Schedule your upgrade" notice, which means they are really near the end of the list. Granted, the scheduling options are still a ways out (2 months), but I checked the box saying "if there's an earlier date available, lemme know!" Here's hoping my window opens before, rather than after, Dec 25th.

Anymore recent Monstro upgrades? I’m salivating... no notification yet

Yep, I know at least one went out this last weekend and mine should be done this coming week.

Jeff,

Red sent me the shipping documents 4 days ago and I sent them back signed a few hours later but have not heard anything since. Camera is sitting packed in a box waiting for the green light

“Edit: Camera now on its way to the States”

Happiness.

Got an email that says I should send my helium to red europe for upgrade. We are shooting until friday so guess it will leave monday with currier that takes it to london tuesday. Will let you know what the turnaround time is.

RED has had one of my cameras for over 2.5 weeks now.... Grumble...

They are putting extra care into it. I think mine took close to that.

Mine arrived back looking shinny and new. Could have swore that I had a scratch on my side kick and that seems to be gone! Thanks Red Team

My gut feel is this isn't some "minor" replacement: the magnesium PL mounts are probably taken apart and put back together I assume , and moving to IPP2 in camera I'd hate to thinkg about it ... but it might even be board/cpu stuff. Definatly a huge effort, one that probably at this point doesn't make any business sense from a cost viewpoint. I'm btw at 9 working days and haven't heard a peep, I figure they must be busy.

Definitely not a minor replacement or upgrade by any means. This upgrade is a $30K process for those who were not blessed to have ordered at NAB a couple years ago. There is a pretty rigorous testing process in place along with the upgrade. RED is trying to do this right. The wait seems like forever, especially after waiting so long to send in the camera, but it seems well worth it. I’ve had my hands on Dragon VV and it was lovely... Can’t wait to play with Monstro VV, which will have to wait a bit longer. I’m handing off this first one to someone else as I’m too involved elsewhere to really use it.

MONSTRO-F #0140 is home :)
Thank you RED Team!
Patience is a virtue :)

My monstro shipped, so if I don't count the day it arrived at red and the day it actually shipped (which isn't really fair anyway), it was exactly 10 full working business days total time ... which is awesome for this level of complexity. Also this was just a "normal" red dragon to VV upgrade (no forge or stormtropper, or anything special like I am a major studio/manufacturer/integrator/major_rental_house), so I think this also bodes well in that I'm a good example of a normal reduser.

Patrick, you won the turn around time lottery. ;)

My camera finished the upgrade today... Just shy of 30 days. Regular woven carbon weapon swapping out its loaner 8K Helium sensor for VV...

Some of the cameras get held up longer for a couple reasons. Sometimes a flood of cameras comes in at once. Sometimes they upgrade and the new components fail in testing and they have to troubleshoot and replace / re-test.
