  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Weapon 8k Queue

Thanks Micheal, my camera was a new purchase, I didn't trade one in. My understanding was that they were processed in line with carbon upgrades before the M or X models?

My forged #179 arrived on December 12th. My Mini mags became first available on the morning of December 23rd... right before RED closed for two weeks. Got a little hairy there at the end. BSR and RSH made it happen! It's a beautiful machine!! If anyone needs a helping hand and vice versa while cameras are getting 8Ked at RED keep me posted. Happy shooting and Happy New Year!!
 
My order for the 6K was 4/23/2015 and my 8K upgrade was 5/5/2015

Epic-M got allocated :-)

I upgraded my M on April 17th, where I upgraded my X on April 13th.
My X hasn't been allocated yet, so RED is now working on the Epic-M queue first.

Great News Michael. 2 quick questions are you just selling on your Nauticam Hoising and getting a new Weapon Housing. Also have you had any unofficial confirmation from Red that they will eventually produce a weapon and also hopefully an 8K UW OLPF.

Yes, I will be selling my NA-ROSSA (or NA-DCES) with 2 backdoors: 1 original for RT5 monitor & 1 custom made for the Atomos Shogun.
It was crazy expensive but having the Shogun underwater is priceless! The sharpness and clarity of that monitor are superb and I can record ProRes (via HDSDI) should I need it.
I will also sell my Gates Deep Epic (which is technically the same as Deep Dragon).

I have the new Weapon-LT now and will take it down anytime soon now.

That said: I will then be able to confirm if the rumors are true. "They say" WPN shouldn't need H2O anymore as its "rewiring" fixed most of the residue of the contamination-issue.
I first thought about flipping the optic of my H20 with a WPN OLPF I don't use, but that won't work as RED moved some optical treatment from the sensor to the OLPF. Don't remember exactly which one it was and could be vice-versa... haha... Anyway: that makes the OLPFs are not interchangeable, not mechanically but optically neither. These are my conclusions, nothing I asked or got from RED.

Still debating what to do. I think 8K underwater will be spectacular. I haven't even got in the queue yet for 6K weapon. Please will you report back to the Bubble Blowers thread if the magenta problem has been eradicated.
I wish there was a direct upgrade path to 8K from Dragon even if I had to wait a year.

Just received Forged upgrade to Epic-X. :-)

10-Dec'15 : Ready for upgrade email
14-Dec'15 : Dropped of at RED EU
16-Dec'15 : Evaluation completed (no Issues)
18-Jan'16 : Forged Weapon arrived (sans accessories)

8K upgrade from Epic-X 4/17/15.

And thanks to my Bomb Squad Kevin and Ryan, to Chad, to Sam and the whole tech and support team for having my cam delivered in no time as I get ready for a narrative in Senegal.
Jarred you definitely keep having some awesome people working at RED. 2016 is off to a good start!

My CF should be invoiced Monday or so and passed inspection... Any updates or info on 8k roll out? I'm happily waiting for any news

Still too many unanswered questions:

If you just upgraded to a CF Weapon;
Is it a swap or do you need to buy another PL mount for 8k to replace the MG one you paid for with Weapon?
Is it a swap or do you need to buy new OLPF for 8k?

What is the status of PL mount with LDS?
