Aloha all. During NAB 2015 I was interviewed about a dozen times to discuss various topics, technology, and new gear found at the show. I'm certainly always happy to answer questions about the tools and direction much of our industry is going.

Definition Magazine took particular interest in 8K as they saw not just RED's presence on the show floor with Weapon 8K Dragon, but a fair bit more 8K displays and technology than previous years.

Thought I'd link to the article here as it explains my general POV and interest in the VistaVsion+, 8K, Dragon, and Weapon.

Awesome as always Phil, please keep us posted with any developments on the lens side of things. I have a feeling we will be seeing a whole lot of "VistaVision approved" lenses.

Cheers gentlemen. Glad it was/is a good read.

Correct indeed. We've seen the first steps of "designed for motion" glass for this larger format. For the creative there's a great deal of glass that covers Dragon 8K/VistaVision+ today.

Phil, you are a busy man. Enjoyed the article. Thank you for the mention (SpectraCal) in one of the other articles. The split screen 3D cube LUT demo was a big hit at NAB.

There are not enough NAB videos on RED this year.

Thanks Stacey. Happy that footage went over well. I did do a couple video interviews I haven't seen yet. Two of which were shot in front of the RED booth. Hopefully those show up online shortly.

Great article Phil!

Thanks for the article Phil. I am still shaky on anamorphics larger then the current dragon sensor height of 15.8. Seems to me various anamorphic lenses have different height amounts, from 15 all the way to 24mm. I think the awesome thing to me on the 8k is it covers the 18mm anamorphics, and also gets close to the 24mm anamorphics (i really have no idea how often anamorphics where shot at the various mm amounts). I went through your format diagrams, but i think those dimensions are all standards for spherical lenses?

Great interview, Phil! Very insightful answers. I just sent you a message on Facebook regarding the new cameras.
