Will the internal 3d luts in weapon display on the red monitors or only out of hdmi/sdi?

They can be applied to any display.

Thanks!

How many LUTs the Weapon is capable of storing?

Just one or there are a given number of "slots" like Black Shade?

We can save these in Foolcontrol or the RED iPad app and then sending these over wifi from the apps??

Thanks!

You can store several LUTS in camera and a gazillion on SSD... seems like you can have quite a lot in camera but I am not sure how many exactly...

I am in the process of adding 3D LUT support in foolcontrol (beyond what can already be done via the menu tree system today).

BTW, what would be your preffered way of importing LUTS into foolcontrol... It is easy to import files on OS X but a bit more complex on iOS closed system...
I will look into several options like email / dropbox / iCloud drive ... LUTs can also be imported into camera via SSD then stored into the camera and foolcontrol will be able to download them locally on camera running FW above 6.2 (currently in beta).

Thanks!

I have imported 10 3d lut directly on the camera from sad , and still had space.
These Lut were exported directly from Davinci Resolve in version cube.
Fantastic this option :)

Can't wait! The 3d lut thing is HUGE in my opinion

I have been looking at pre made for sale LUTs on the web and most are generically profiled for LOG but I am uncertain how effective this is as camera companies implement their LOG differently or are the differences small enough not to worry?
Also many LUTs are designed deliberately on the strong side so when utilised in Post they can be scaled back to taste by simply using opacity. Most of the LUTS do not seem to be editable but can you buy a LUT then modify it in Resolve with another node and then save it out again as a new LUT? Thanks for any input and I will start soon to test myself

OK I have finally got some LUTS into the camera and have managed to apply these LUTS to various monitor outputs but most importantly I cannot work out how to apply the LUT looks to the pro res recording. I assume there is a way if so can somebody please share?

You can't bake in the lut to prores yet. You also cannot playback r3d in camera with a lut applied, it will just be in log

What I don't like about the LUT process as it is :

You have to deliver you "secret LUT" it is copied on the footage folder.
But I don't want my client to use mine. I have created them, or I have bought them.

I want the Prores to have the LUT baked in, as an option, but I want the Raw, raw. no cube files, unless I bring them in the lab.
I'm a raw guy (eheh) Prores are for proxies for old school clients, that's why I use only 2k 422 LT, or don't use Prores at all.
I want to be sure they conform the edit for grading.

So please Red, you did an amazing job, but there is still room for improvment on that part.

Same as Jake, 3D lut doesn't appear for playbacks and on proxys.... So, to me curves are less creatives but more useable.

Let's pray we can get 3D LUTs on prores / dnxhd proxys.

You have 3D LUTs on playback with any OMOD module that has The C3 Engine - as we do all of the LUT processing on top of REDs video signals.

ditto

It's a terrific feature to be able to use 33pt 3D LUTs in camera! However, it's an option - not a mandate. If you would prefer to keep your LUTs to yourself, or just have more sophisticated needs in particular environments, use an outboard LUT box - Teradek COLR, Fuji IS mini, etc.

Looking forward to digging into the multi-signal, multi-LUT capabilities of Mark's OMOD units. If he delivers at the level I expect, it just might be the best of both worlds. Lots of control from "on camera" hardware, just not "in the brain" itself. Putting legit timecode, wireless video hosting, audio inputs/pre-amps/manual level control, etc in one slick module should be well worth the cost for more sophisticated shows that would otherwise be hanging so much "gack" on your Weapon you might not even know it was still under there ;-)

Cheers - #19

I'm trying to apply three LUTs to the camera, one exported from Resolve, two from FilmConvert at 16x16x16 (there were no 17x17x17 option), why is the LUTs page under video in the settings greyed out? I cannot see the LUTs on the SSD card?

Yes you can. Put them in the correctly named folder and they should show up just like looks. I believe the folder should be "Luts" but I'm away from my cam at the moment. I loaded 4 33 point luts into Lattice and exported 17x and all 4 came into magnesium fine. I highly recommend Lattice as you can modify and export to your hearts content

We REALLY need to be able to see luts upon playback, it's super annoying to have a workaround.

I have made a custom Kodak lut and man is it beautiful! I want to run it all the time! Solves all color complaints and looks incredible. Had to do a fair bit of tweaking to make it shine but it's there now. So Red:
1) allow luts on playback
2) give me the option to burn in the lut to QuickTime if I so choose
3) give me the option to NOT include the lut in the file structure if i so choose

Yes, that did it :)
However, the LUT from Resolve is 33x33x33, I can only use 17x17x17 in my MG. How do I export such a LUT from Resolve?

I bet it something having to do with how your luts are made, 16x

The folder should be in the top of the directory, Just like with looks

Make sure you have the capitalization correct on the folder
