  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

We're looking for original short films about subjects close to geek or gaming culture (does not have to be directly about games! zombies, sci-fi, fantasy, game parodies, animation, etc.). If you have a creative idea and can produce, shoot and finish your film yourself or with your own crew, we will provide a budget and also make available our equipment for free (if you are in Southern California - we have Epics and Scarlets, lenses, grip and lighting/studio space).

This is all 4k content, shot on Red. 3-4 minutes run time (can be longer depending on project).

If we like your idea, we will provide $10,000 in funding for your short film. You retain ownership of your film and IP. For more details, please Cindi at submissions@epiclevel.com

I have a great short film script I optioned about a Vampire but it cannot be shot without a modest budget ($10k would probably do it). I also have a synopsis and script in progress on a found-footage vampire story. I own a RED, all the gear and have the crew. Does it matter that I'm not in California? I'm in Florida.

This is worldwide, not limited to the US. You just have to be able to get everything done yourself with the funding and shoot in 4k. Final result must be in English.

Thanks for sponsoring! I'm an Epic owner and part of a band of game devs who shoot shorts on the side, so this would be right up our alley! Script is nice, but not required. A 2-5 page pitch doc will work too. Send links to prior works or relevant experience. This is a RED focused sponsorship, as we want everything in 4k.

I don't intend to be snarky but the internet makes tone difficult so I'll just shoot it out there: "What's in it for you?" ;)

We retain IP and ownership but do you retain any special rights such as festival entries? Will it be part of a DVD? Just for production company exposure and reel?

"What's in it for you" It's a fair question. Our plans are secret right now, so if you'd like to find out more, send a submission. If we like it, we will explain where we are coming from.

Suffice to say we are looking for an exclusive period for airing, and then it goes non-exclusive and you can do what you wish with the film.

I have some friends that are working on a short SteamPunk project and I am the DP using a Scarlett. They were only asking for $5,000 as all involved are volunteers, but I know with $10,000 they could really make an awesome short.
