I think this is down to Red themselves. Congratulations guys. You made your own cameras worthless. Brilliant.

I'm willing to bet, that as soon as full inventory has been sold by RED, the R1's that you'll find for sale on the use market will not sale for that cheap...![]()

Red One MX is practically free at $4K! Outside of Scarlet, Epic, Alexa, F65, C500, and new Sony cameras, no camera comes close to touching its image...price wise only Scarlet does. And in totally honesty, I'm a Scarlet owner and love her to death, but I know for a fact Red One MX creates a much cleaner image (and you don't have to screw with black shading every second!)
Why stop at being "practically" free?

What do you base this on?

Does this guys who are depressed about value of their cameras shoot anything in their lifes?
Did they bought their cameras for keeping the value or just for rent?
I agree with you Aleksander. I'm really looking for someone to give me their RED One MX instead of just hanging onto it like its some museum piece collecting dust somewhere.
Trust me, I get the sense of humor. I also get the bitterness that is littering the forum the past two days. A camera being worthless is in the eye of the beholder. Since I'll be getting full rate for a R1 rental next week, I guess I just see things differently than others right now. Your camera is what you make of it. As I have said elsewhere, I do understand the frustration of recent Epic owners who feel this deal came quickly and was unexpected. It's a tough boat to be in. But those cameras are not worthless. They need to continue to be put in action and hopefully see an ROI eventually, whether through rentals or through other means. The whole world is on shaky ground right now. We have to make the best of it. Sometimes there's a silver lining in all of this. For some that have been hurt by this price cut, perhaps the silver lining is if they need to buy another Epic, the price to do so is much lower now. Might still sting today, but tomorrow might bring some healing.

I gotta say, I'm feeling generous and would even stretch to pay a few hundred pounds for one, I might even pay a little extra for a scarlet or EPIC!
I just feel really bad for these people now that they have hit the iceberg and these cameras are worthless. Just to compensate them for their sadness you understand and to keep the dust from clogging up the fan inlets.
I'm kind of crazy because I'd even consider shooting on one of these obsolete antique cameras.
I'm just wacky like that!

Oh, now, this little adventure has made you into a slave of debt, you need to cover for at least 10 000 USD in interest rates and loan, and you'll need to do a lot more prostitution to cover for it all. Well, it's just to close your eyes and go for it! In the mean time all your friends go to the most prestigious film schools. And you are the dirty informercial-loser in the crowd of friends that nobody wants to talk to any more. What a waste of talent.
I think you misunderstand the complaints.
